Masters OF Horror price raise???

Just got back from Future Shop. Usually the Masters of Horror 2 pack is 19.99Cad...The price on the Landis/ Mckee 2 pack is now 29.99...this is also on the FS website. Has Anchor Bay raised the price on these?? If so, this is completely ridiculous and pretty much guarantees I'm finished with this series.

Still advertised at 9.95 or 9.99 for this weeks releases. Maybe that store just decided to jack the prices up. These dics are nicely packed but not worth more than 10 bucks each since theyre not even feature length nor quality.

Weird..I went to Blockbuster and the price was 27.99, whereas the gordon/carepenter was priced at 21.99 there. Zeller's was 29.99 as well. At walmart they had no dual packs but I managed to get them separately for 12.83 each. Overly, I'm a little bummed out.

...And this is why I'm going to wait for the eventual boxset to come out. There's no way I'd pay $130+ for these things, especially as a blind buy.

Same here. I'm interested in the DVDs, but I don't want to pay hundreds of dollars for the series. I've actually only seen Tobe Hooper's episode, so I'll probably rent these releases and hope for a box set in the future.

Isn't each movie run a little under an hour? The price sounds kind of high considering it's not a "full" film.

Exactly, mondo Kane. I'm actually a minority here, but I love the series, and while I won''t collect all of them, I will own most-not concerned with a boxset (although that would've been ideal), the extras make it a must purchase and I bet the extras won't be as extensive in the maybe boxset like they are here for the individual releases.

Sick Girl and Deer woman, I will get for my birthday here on saturday, but the only releases I'm interested in are Imprint and Jenifer. Others will be based on reviews; so far I only skipped out of Garris' Chocolate.

I picked up the Carpenter/Gordon 2-pack for $14.39 and the Corscarelli/Garris 2-pack for $11.52 during the DDD 20% sale. I'll wait until either the next one or another Anchor Bay sale to pick up some more.

Has anyone gotten the PAL all region disc of Miike's "Imprint"??
Diabolik has it for $26 and it also has the episode "Pick Me Up".

I have a feeling these will be in the Wal-mart $4.88 bin in due time. Waiting for them would be your best bet.

Funny how people get up in arms about paying $30 for a whole season of a show but then will pay $10 or more for one episode of this show (especially considering the quality of this series).

I have a question about the future releases. Does anyone know if they are completely changing the case styles for upcoming releases? I saw on Amazon and Anchor Bay website a changed cover for Joe Dante's Homecoming. It looks like it won't have the normal slipcover like all the previous releases, but rather horrible artwork in a normal amaray case. Also, the same can be found on digitalbits.com where a new picture of Jenifer can be found. I will be extremely pissed if they change the casing style half way through the series, that is just unacceptable.

I emailed Anchor Bay, hopefully they respond. Anyone know how long they usually take to respond?

Homecoming does come with a slipcase. The front cover artwork doesn't maintain the look of previous releases. The sides look like the earlier DVDs, but the case says "Homecoming" as opposed to "Joe Dante". The back looks exactly look the first six DVDs. Hope that helps.

Mike,

Thanks for the help. I just got a little confused. So the slipcover will be the same, and the amaray case is different style? Or are you saying the spine on the slipcover will be the same, but the front is changed on the slipcover?

Did BB have a script to screen featurette on the latest releases? I didn't see it in their ad this time.

Yes - they both have them.

Disappointed that the MoH can't keep a consistent cover style in a lousy 12-13 releases, though.

The slipcover and case cover both have the new-style cover art.

Exactly. I liked the original cover art, but I read in an interview that "MoH" Mick Garris hated the artist's who drew each MoH on the lower left and on the collectible card.

So maybe AB and Garris had a talk-like it really matters-focus on the show's quality (even though I really like, not love, the show) not the DVD art quality!!!

Y'know, I'd like to wait for a box set on these puppies too, but I did that for the Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes titles, and now that the damned box set came out, it's not that much cheaper than the discs separately -- $130 list for 14 roughly hour-long films on only five discs. Can you say "gouge?"

I looked at the second pair of releases while I was at Best Buy and dont remember a script to screen featurette. Maybe I missed it but are you sure that the second batch had them like the first pair?

Yea, all 6 of the releases so far had the exclusive feature from Best Buy. I got all 6 of mine there, and they all have the sticker on the front.
