Poseidon - 8/22

Well, the good ol' WB's at it again.

Poseidon's getting the regular one-disc with minimal features and the two-disc extravaganza.

One-disc:
anamorphic widescreen
5.1
"Poseidon: A Ship on a Soundstage"
Theatrical Trailer

Two-disc:
Everything listed above
"Poseidon: Upside Down"
"Rogue Waves"
"A Shipmate's Diary"

Retail is 28.99 for the single disc and 34.99 for the 2-disc.

Ugh...so a $13.99 single disc or a $27.99 2 disc, with probably an hour of special features. And just to think, a couple years ago the Matrix films got packed 2 disc special editions at a single disc price...

I can't see anyone buying the 2 disc set of this movie. But nonetheless, I will be buying the 1 disc of this guilty pleasure.

I expect that the 2-disc Special Edition will contain a few more extras than the featurettes we posted earlier this morning.

Stay tuned for the official press release soon.

I might rent this just to get a good laugh or two. For some reason I'm always interested in seeing remakes to movies I liked, good or bad.

I'm standing in line at Columbia House. Maybe they'll do a B1G1Free sale like with King Kong & HP4.

Poseidon
One of the biggest box office disappointments in recent memory, Warner Brothers' soggy remake Poseidon crashes in on August 22nd. A single-disc edition will be available with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 audio, "Poseidon: A Ship on a Soundstage" featurette and the trailer. Retail is $28.99. A two-disc Special Edition will be available as well and will include, among other things, the additional featurettes "Poseidon: Upside Down," "Rogue Waves" and "A Shipmate's Diary." Retail for this is $34.99.

I guess, thatīs why it gets released on DVD only 3 month after its theatrical release.

What gets me is that they chopped out a good deal of footage from the final release print, and NONE of it will be included with the two-disc DVD.

You woulda thought that was a no-brainer.

Could you explain more? I always thought it was Petersen's intent while shooting that the film wouldn't be much longer than an hour-and-a-half.

Poseidon - Extras Updated

We were the first news site last month to report the first details on Warner Home Video's Poseidon, and now we have final info on the extras. Unfortunately, we can finally confirm that no deleted scenes will be present.

Available with a 2.40:1 anamorphic transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, the single-disc edition will include "Poseidon: A Ship on a Soundstage" behind-the-scenes featurette and the trailer. Retail is $28.98. The two-disc Special Edition will also include "Poseidon: Upside Down," "A Shipmate's Diary" featurettes and The History Channel's "Rogue Waves" documentary. Retail is $34.99.

Hopefully not, if he's still making commentarys like Air Force One.

They're probably saving it for a potential "Unrated Extended Cut."
