This list would expand your collection in documentaries, Spanish films, and made-for-TV movies. Each of these movies represents a good value when both quality and cost are taken into account.

Heat's $50 List:

The Errol Morris Collection $32.89
- The Thin Blue Line
- Gates of Heaven
- Vernon, Florida

Open Your Eyes $9.28
Live Flesh $9.12

On the Beach $5.99
Danielle Steel, Jewels $4.99

Total = $49.82 (after discount)
The Errol Morris Collection has three very good documentaries. “Gates of Heaven” is on Roger Ebert’s Top 10 movies of all time list while “The Thin Blue Line” resulted in a former death row inmate being released from prison. Plus, the box will look good on your shelf.

Open Your Eyes and Live Flesh are both movies by legendary Spanish directors –Alejandro Amenábar and Pedro Almodovar.

On the Beach and Danielle Steel’s Jewels are both TV miniseries and were both nominated for Golden Globe awards. You’ll get your money’s worth out of these - there’s seven hours worth of viewing combined.

Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense - $18.12
Real Genius - $7.53
NFL Hall Of Fame Complete History - $23.21
Total - $48.86

You have all of the Super Bowl series, so the HOF would complement them well. Real Genius is a classic teen comedy, and Stop Making Sense is one of the best concert films ever put out.

Your collection seems to be a bit lacking in the 'SciFi/Dystopia' and 'SciFi/Apocalypse' areas. This selection will expand those areas and provide a solution if you ever feel too happy ...

Silent Running $7.58
On the Beach (2000 version) $4.79
A Boy & His Dog $14.36
Logan's Run $4.79
Soylent Green $6.48
THX 1138 $10.69

$48.69 total.

(If Boy & his Dog wasn't so expensive then I could slip the older version of On the Beach in also.)

As I understand it, we offer up our own recommendations of what Kocheese99 should order from DDD.com this week for up to $50; he will then narrow down the selections to two posters' recommendations; at that time, he will post a poll of both recommended lists and let the DVDTalk community vote as to which of the two lists is the best. Whichever list wins the community vote is a) the one he'll order and b) the one that will earn its creator one of the prizes mentioned.

I just thought it would be a fun community type thing. And since the DDD 20% off sale is like a major event around here, i figure i might as well start a little contest. It helps me get some movies that i probably wouldn't have thought of. As to the prizes; it makes the contest more interesting and it makes people try a little harder to come up with the best/most interesting list.

Filmmaker: The only difference from what you said is that there will 10 names in the poll. I figure with 10 lists i would have absolutely no control over which one wins. Which makes it more interesting for me.

A Very Long Engagement - $13.37
Pride and Prejudice - $14.11 (I know what you're thinking - chick flick - trust me though, the movie is pretty incredible.)
A Tale of Two Sisters - $18.61 (Haven't seen it yet, but have heard very, VERY good things)

And your subtotal is *drumroll...* $46.09!

Use the extra money to take a hit out on me if you don't like the movies.

...You won't have to.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to veto A tale of two sisters. The winner last year, Cameron, had me buy that one and i watched it and didn't like it. I did like most of the things he picked for me though. So please choose another one. Thanks
