I've watched the main document so far (haven't had time to get into the extra or the hours of ROM stuff), and I have to say it's better than I expected. The only one critique I have of it is the timeline ends at the film, where it seems all sunshine and flowers. Sadly, the film didn't do wonderfully in theatres.. But I guess for a bookend, the film works. Great job on the documentary!

I'm planning on picking up the dvd because 1. I can't get enough Firefly and 2. they really did a good job on this dvd they need to be rewarded for it.

I knew about this from reading about it online a few weeks back, but was kind of on the fence about getting it. I'm a big enough fan of Firefly/Serenity, but after reading the review das Monkey did, I decided to purchase it from them yesterday..damn you das!

Anyway, I recall the filmmakers as being totally enthusiastic and proud of their effort; fans in the best sense of the word. They were showing off some of the features they were planning for the DVD release they were then still working on, and judging from the comments and reviews here they managed to pull it off. I had completely forgotten about this, and thanks to this thread will probably get this DVD.
The comment I quoted above I thought was a good one about the filmmakers being rewarded for their effort. Considering the amount of time and love invested in it, they can't be making more than a couple pennies an hour.
correction: Whoops. The Done the Impossible panel I saw was actually at San Francisco's WonderCon earlier this year in February. My memory got mixed up

I finally watched my copy of the main documentary, and it's a bittersweet viewing experience, but brought back some good memories. With Dragon*Con just a week away, it should be interesting to see if the Browncoats show up en masse at the panels with Adam Baldwin, Summer Glau and Alan Tudyk. Sigh...
