Nice going there mtucker.

Yeah, I too have decreased the number of discs I own, primarily because i'm either sick of the film or I just don't watch the disc anymore.

squidget 06-16-06 07:14 PM

I purge my dvd collection every 6 months or so and I don't buy as much as I used to. With online renting (thank you BB and nicheflix!) I no longer have buyers remorse as frequently. If I never sold anything off I would have double the amount of dvds now.

Mr. Cinema 06-16-06 10:19 PM

Okay, let's hope part 10 gets past at least 5 pages. My pics are updated since DDD started their 20% off sale. Here goes....

Mr. Cinema, you have one of my favorite collections on here. It's not overdone, has good stuff, and looks very neat.

Ditto...I always enjoy seeing your updates even if it is a small one :)

DoubleDownAgain 06-17-06 01:55 AM

While I am jealous the you have am HD-DVD player as well as most of the titles available, I don't like the look of them. The rounded corners make them look funny, but that might be just me.....

I don't like how the boxes look also, but other then that very nice collection. (Nice Computer also).

Anubis2005X 06-17-06 02:51 AM

Personally, I think they look really cool. And that's someone who was like :wtf: when the cases were first announced...

Fincher Fan 06-17-06 05:35 AM

Mr. Cinema, where did you get that Frankenstein bust?

Mr. Cinema 06-17-06 08:38 AM

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

I do like the cases. They are more compact, and I can fit alot more on each shelf. And I also like the small rounded "feet" on the bottom of the cases. Makes them easier to stand up to display.

I got the Frankenstein bust years ago when I was an employee with Spencer Gifts. At that time, they were owned by Universal, so we had some of their licensed product. I think they originally sold for about $150, but I was able to get it on clearance for about $20 as it had been marked down several times. I think they also made The Wolf Man, but I was never able to find one. They were limited to 12,500.

I've searched on ebay for these, but most of the busts that are available on there are "mini-busts".

Mr. Cinema's DVD bookcase layout looks a lot like mine (but I just retrofited a few large bookcases from the office auction to max out of the number of shelves per bookcase). One day I'll post mine too.

They resemble Mr. Spock's coffin from Star Trek II to me.

Sabrett 06-17-06 08:40 PM

More people have to repost with their DDD updated collections. I got over 20 things from the sale, but I'm still waiting for a lot of them to come in the mail, so there's no point in retaking the pictures. And I have some stuff I'm trying to sell off, too.

Have you seen them in person though? They are unecessarily small (I like the size of a DVD case relative to the size of the media). They also feel extremely cheap to me. Just my 2 cents.

Anyone know the name of/have a link to this unit, posted in part 9 by hiphopkid?

I bought a couple in store a few years ago, but I don't remember them being that expensive. I think they were about $35 each after tax.

Edit, on closer inspection, the one in the link may be more expensive since it has 2 more shelves.

Scott27 06-17-06 10:45 PM

Thanks. I have one of the 5-shelf ones I bought at Wal-Mart a few years ago, and have been looking for another one, but it's hard to find when you don't know the name of the manufacturer. :) I'll be getting that from BB.

Can someone please open poor Mike Wazowski's eye...he just looks weird

Hey Sabrett,

I really dig those wall shelves. Were they purchased from a store/online or a DIY project? I've been looking for something like this for ages to clear up MONSTEROUS floor space that's crowding my walk way.

Any info on where to get those and how much they run would be awesome. :)

I got them in Ikea. It came with the side brackets and screws for $6.99 a shelf. They were so easy to put up and I highly recommend them. I don't know if they have them online, but they're called Fabian Shelves. Hope that helps!

Been watching this thread since Part 4 and never had time to post any pics.

just regular shelving purchased and Lowe's or Home Depot. I figured this way would be cheaper than a lot of little units. I think it was about 100 bucks.

I think there are about 600 titles on there now and room for about 150 - 200 more. That should last a year or two.
