I'm going to wait to see what extras they put on this release. I've been thinking about ordering the R3 version anyway.
Weird that they took out the "Sympathy For..", since SFMV had the same title as the ones released overseas.

Does Tarten still do well releasing these titles 6 months to a year after other regions? How do they fare against a euro title in which they get a closer street date to that of the euro disc?

I was lucky enough to get to see it on the big screen here at the Nuart theater in LA about a month ago. I loved it. I'm really tempted to import the R3 two-disc, but I'm waiting to see what the R1 has to offer. Especially english-wise.

Ya, I was lucky enough to see it on a big screen also. I saw it at the TIFF last year and was a bit let down I still picked up the 2 disc Korean however, mainly because I wanted the B&W and at the time I thought it was a limited release.
I've always been amazed that some of these Asian titles come out with such a delay and yet seemingly make a profit. OLDBOY or SFLV I'm guessing can survive because of their popularity (just like a French film like CACHE will), but other titles like an "Univited" which was just release by Panic House is a bit of a mystery to me. I guess I've always made an assumption that most people into these films have region free players, so maybe that's my mistake. Maybe I've got lucky, but I usually find the imports are;
1) Much better looking (packaging etc...)
2) Often cost the same, if not less than the US release
3) Arrive 6 months before the US release
I have never really seen the appeal in waiting for an R1, but maybe that's just me. Apparently there is a good market, and that's something I'm happy about.

Does anyone here know Korean? I was wondering how different the experience would be to someone who actually spoke the language it was made in. I mean, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy, and Lady Vengeance are all very poetic movies when translated. When in their original language they must be even more beautifully poetic. No? I have a feeling Park Chan Wook is a director who loves puns and wordplay.

if able to, get the r3k dvd, the fade to black version is the one to watch. since the fade to b/w was so gradual, i really didn't even notice it until the last 20 mins or so. what a great movie.
