Movie Trailers Not On DVD-- The Definitive List

I like movie trailers. They can be an art form unto themselves. However, sometimes they just don't take the time to add them to DVD releases. So just because I was bored, I thought of all DVD releases I know of that don't have their corresponding theatrical trailer.

Bad Santa
Blade Runner
Boogie Nights
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Mr. Holland's Opus
Napoleon Dynamite
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
Saving Private Ryan
Schindler’s List
Serenity
Star Trek Generations
The Fifth Element
The Passion of the Christ
They Live
Trading Places
Unbreakable
Young Sherlock Holmes

Feel free to add any I haven't thought of to this thread.

The trailers for Saving Private Ryan were on the DTS and DD single disc versions. They are OOP but can still be found in stores.

The trailer for THE RING and the teaser for THE RING TWO can be found on the bonus disc RINGS, which was packaged with the existing DVD of THE RING shortly before the sequel's theatrical release.

THE FIFTH ELEMENT trailer on THE PROFESSIONAL is a video-release trailer and, as such, doesn't qualify as an original theatrical trailer. I don't recall the next two trailers being where you found them, but I'll confirm when I get home from work--I hope I'm wrong. I'm positive you are incorrect about HALLOWEEN RESURRECTION, and the DVDTalk review for the DVD confirms the same.

I was wrong about Halloween:Resurrection checked it. Checked THE PROFESSIONAL and it is the theatrical trailer for 5TH ELEMENT. True, before the trailer starts it says "Now on DVD" then fades to black and then the theatrical trailer plays unaltered for home video.

Should Metropolis really be on this list? Had they even invented trailers back then?

Although maybe there was a trailer for the recent re-release.

For older horror/monster sci-fi trailers gets THE HORROR OF HAMMER and ALL MONSTERS ATTACK both from Allday. Contains KONGA, DINOSAURUS,RODAN, MOTHRA,KING KONG VS GODZILLA, GODZILLA VS THE THING, KING KONG ESCAPES, EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN, FRANKENSTEIN AND MONSTER FROM HELL, CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF, NIGHT CREATURES, PHANTOM OF OPERA, BRIDES OF DRACULA, KISS OF THE VAMPIRE, CAPTAIN KRONOS none of which appear on the dvds, I believe. . Plus many more.
The BEST BUY promo discs contain some trailers that didn't come with the dvds.
The HEROES OF HORROR from Image which is the A&E biographies of Lugosi, Karloff, Chaney Jr., Lorre and Price has several trailers of each star's films.
TALES OF FRANKENSTEIN from Image/Allday has several trailers to Frankenstein films.
VINCENT PRICE, THE SINISTER IMAGE from Image/Allday has several of his trailers.
Also, you can download trailers for movies that you don't get the trailer for on the dvd or another dvd you have. Download them when they go up and save them till the dvd comes out. If the dvd doesn't give you the trailer, convert the quicktime file to dvdvideo format, then when you have several burn to dvd. I started doing this awhile ago and this way you have the trailer for everything.
Some I've never tracked down:
OPEN RANGE
KINGDOM OF HEAVEN
STAR TREK: NEMISIS

I try to keep track of the trailers I have and which disc they are on in my database. I have these listed:
ANACONDAS on THE GRUDGE
AVIATOR on CELLULAR
DAY AFTER TOMORROW on MASTER AND COMMANDER
THE FORGOTTEN on SPIDERMAN 2/HELLBOY
HELLBOY on SECRET WINDOW/THE MISSING
THE PUNISHER on ANGEL HEART
RESIDENT EVIL:APOCALYPSE reg on BOOGEYMAN(1980) teaser on THE MISSING
INTO THE BLUE on AMITYVILLE HORROR
ICE HARVEST on SKELETON KEY
THE CAVE on BOOGEYMAN
THE FOG on AMITYVILLE HORROR
BOOGEYMAN on BOOGEYMAN(1980)
SKY CAPTAIN AND WORLD OF TOMORROW on PAYCHECK/TIMELINE
WHEN A STRANGER CALLS on HOSTEL
SIN CITY on DARKNESS
RED EYE on RING 2
LEGEND OF ZORRO on THE FOG/AMITYVILLE HORROR
Several of these appear on other titles also but as far as I know not on the dvd of that title.

Studios should release the trailer(s) on the films actual dvd release. If they want to promote other films as well. They can,but I hate that they leave off a films original trailer. Since I don't want to buy films I don't like or want to see, just to view the trailer!

There was, on Kino's website, and it was pretty slick.

The trailers for this are on the STAR TREK: NEMESIS: Special Collector's Edition, so why do you need to "track it down"?

rw2516, I was about to call you out again on THE FIFTH ELEMENT trailer when I realized you are probably talking about the original DVD of THE PROFESSIONAL, when I've been checking LEON (a.k.a THE PROFESSIONAL): Deluxe Edition; I don't have that first, U.S.-edit DVD, so I guess I'm out of luck there; however, thank you thank you thank you for pointing out the HIDALGO and THE ISLAND trailers! I thought I would never have access to them! And I've updated my list above to remove the titles I was wrong about. Thanks again!

Postcards From the Edge has like five trailers on it, but no Postcards from the Edge trailer. I'm not sure if that trailer is on any other DVD.

The Movie FX Mag DVDs have a bunch of trailers on them as bonus features (the WTC Spidey trailer is on Issue Four).

When Total Movie magazine was up and running, their bonus DVDs usually came with a bunch of trailers that never should up on their prospective releases (Unbreakable being one of them).

As someone mentioned in a thread here last week, the original Spiderman trailer with the helicopter caught in a web between the twin towers is not on DVD.

It wasn't on either release. I think I read somewhere that P.T. Anderson didn't want it on there(which is possible since the rest of his DVDs all include their respective trailers). Now why he would make that demand I have no idea. I've never even seen the trailer for Boogie Nights.
