Hudson Hawk SE - 7/25

i just found this over at HTF. i haven't seen it around here so i thought i would post it.

http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/hudson-hawk.html

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced a 15th Anniversary edition of Hudson Hawk which stars Bruce Willis, Danny Aiello, Andie MacDowell and James Coburn. This Michael Lehmann directed action comedy will be available to own from the 25th July, and should retail at around $19.94. The film itself will be presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with English and French Dolby Surround tracks. Extra material will include a trivia track, deleted scenes, and two behind the scenes featurettes.

i can't get the cover art posted but i think it looks really bad.

I know this movie is generally and popularly considered to be gar-bage... but it is entertaining, and funny at times. And just downright weird - which isn't always a bad thing. It is different. How many movies have Andie MacDowell making dolphin sounds?

But that cover... "Danger is his middle name." I thought that was Austin Power's middle name?

I enjoy this movie, but that cover does look terrible. It's a good thing I don't generally care what the cover looks like.

Wow, that cover ranks right up there with 'The Aviator' for worst cover of all-time.

I shamefully admit that this movie is a guilty pleasure of mine, too.

Please note. The previous post came from the Bizarro Kudama and runs counter to everything that the Kudama from our universe thinks. In fact the real Kudama does not even consider this movie guilty as a pleasure. Real Kudama thinks it's a kick ass comedy along the lines of Lupin III and is incredibly underrated.

Real Kudama weeps at the cover of the DVD, but is glad he hasn't bought the previous release yet as he will be picking this up regardless of that crappy cover.

I just talked to our distributor and they said that the studio pulled the title. Not sure if this is just pulled from our distributor or if this is going to pulled from every store, but just thought i would update the Hudson Hawk fans out there.

Well, I got an e-mail from the company doing the PR work for Hudson Hawk, and he indicated that it is pulled for July. He did not give any indication of when it would be available.

Is this a new transfer? If not, I'll just keep the original copy.

Its funny because i have been re-reading Richard E. Grants book Withnails this week and i always lookg forward to the chapter where he talks about Hudson Hawk. It sounds like it was a complet mess from the start. The one thing that always cracks me up is reading about how Danny Aiello didn't want his character to die at the end so he came up with the idea that when the car he is in goes speeding off the cliff he just so happens to be wearing a parachte for such ocassions. Brilliant stuff.

Also think the cover of the DVD is hilarious.....i knew that movie would make me laugh one day when i saw it.

They should just release this and get it over with!

I won't be upgrading -- I bought this for $5.50 at Walmart and it's all the Hudson Hawk I will ever need on dvd. I think this film has been given to bad of reputation by audiences, not a masterpiece of cinema, but not the cinematic failure that many think it is. It's fun and entertaining.

I would rather be eaten by Hounds from Hell then have to watch HH again in any form.

Damned them. Well, my order from Amazon for Hudson Hawk 15AE, A Fish Called Wanda SE & V For Vendetta 2 disc looks to be down to just V. They haven't taken Wanda down though even though it was announced weeks ago that it's been cancelled. Bastards.

Anyone have any more info on why this was pushed back/cancelled? I can't imagine them not having the discs pressed/packaged 2 1/2 weeks before release. So I guess somewhere, someone is sitting on a whole bunch of Hudson Hawk 15th Anniversary DVDs.

The cover art looks like a sitcom that was canceled after 4 episodes.
