So are you buying the new Star Wars Trilogy?

No sale. I'm not the biggest fan of the movies so I'm content with my current box set. And if I was a big fan, the lack of anamorphic would probably turn me off of them anyway.

If they're non-anamorphic: no fucking way.

As long as the quality of the O-OT "extras" are of better quality than the bootlegs floating around, I'll buy them... anamorphic would be great, but if they're not... it won't be a show stopper.

There won't be any 'extras' for the O-OT to speak of since they are considered an 'extra' themselves. I was all set to buy Star Wars yet again, but I will NOT buy them if they're not anamorphic. I don't really consider it sending a message with my pocketbook, because I think if the majority of people don't buy them, Lucas will simply look at the numbers and say, "See, I always knew people preferred the Special Editions anyway." So we're damned if we do and damned if we don't. I'm not trying to send Lucas a message. I simply won't be buying them because I refuse to buy widescreen movies that are non-anamorphic -- period.

I was on the fence which means I would probably end up picking them up. Not now. I have a nice set of SE's and the original LD's if I really feel like I need to see the theatrical version. I could just rip the LD's and burn them to DVD and have the same end result.

I know I'm just being stupid by rebuying these, but I have to. I know they'll eventually come again, but I can't help myself. I have a sickness. I'll at least be able to give my single-disc sets (sans the bonus) to a family member for Christmas or something. So it isn't like I'm spending the full amount on them again, right? Lucas has busted the O-ring in my ass...

No.
Although a HD-DVD/BD release will occur (that I would eventually also purchase), I would have bought them if they were anamorphic DVDs. But as others have said: no anamorphic, no sale.

I also must say that I find it weird that people buy a shitload of dvds but say they won't be getting an HDTV anytime soon because they can't afford it. Cut down on the fucking buying and get a proper display.

I'd buy them even if they were in Black & White with mono sound.
These are the ORIGINAL VERSIONS of my favorite movie series, the films I grew up with, when STAR WARS was "from the Adventures of Luke Skywalker," not "the Redemption of Annakin Skywalker" or whatever BS Lucas has talked himself into this week.
And I'm gonna send the SE versions BACK to the ranch!

Yeah I'm going to buy them. Only have the originals on VHS, so this will be an upgrade. I'll see if I can see the SE off as I've already got them
Were there details about the trilogy coming out on HD-DVD or BluRay?

Non-anamorphic means no sale for me as well.
I may pick them up used eventually for really cheap but as far as Lucasfilm getting any money out of me for them...nope! I would rather buy an anamorphic bootleg copy again.
I've been living off bootlegs & laserdiscs for them for close to 10 years, I think I will survive. What's funny is all the crap that has gone on for that long has made me less and less of a Star Wars fan with each passing year. Someday I hope to not care at all.
And I also put in a vote for a more specific poll.
