Check my list on the first page I have it.

I'm disappointed that no one else but me don't have Zulu on their list. This is an excellent film, it's also the film debut of Michael Caine.

Those were my first picks.

I don't think anyone wants to turn this into yet another Lucas bashing thread.

How many of you ex/current military people that have been in combat enjoy watching war movies?

The reason I ask is because when I did an internship at a VA hospital back in the 1980's I would have conversations with or hear conversations among the patients. Almost to a man the older WW2 vets refused to watch war movies because it brought back painful memories. I can also remember both of my uncles having the same opinion. One served in the Pacific and the other in Italy.

I'm decidedly not big on war movies, so here's my meager offering...

Schindler's List
We Were Soldiers
Pearl Harbor
King Arthur
Three Kings

One of my uncles was in the D-Day landing and he would NEVER watch any war picture or anything close since it was very tramatizing to him. Did not ever want to talk about it. He has since died awhile back and it seemed to affect his health physically in his later years. He was generally a very happy guy though, a good overall dememor, but it did take its toll on him.

My mom's boyfriend was in the navy and served in the Pacific during WWII. While he never talked about his personal experiences, he would occasionally watch war movies.
