Good guests on the commentaries: Kelsey Grammer, Alex Rocco, John Waters, Dave Thomas...

Arguably the last great Simpsons season. I wish I could buy just the premiere of Season 9 (Homer Simpson vs. The City of New York), but I'll probably bite the bullet and get it all.

Hmmm... No info on a separate release in the original style of packaging. If this holds, 7 will be the last season I buy.

I know "limitted edition" and "collectible" doesn't always mean much for DVDs, but since there is a little sticker pointing that out on this set, maybe we'll end up getting both again.

It's very, very likely that we'll see both versions again. Besides, the sticker states "limited edition packaging," so even if it's not released immediately with the Maggie head, we'll see it within a few months.

Although given the big stink we all made about the Homer head, Fox would have to be incredibly stupid to not release the regular packaging simultaneously.

Yeah, I'm not too worried since it says Limited Collectible Packing. However, I would be pissed if they just limited it to the head release, especially after buying Season 7 in the standard packaging...

That's hilarious! You actually let the packaging dictate whether you buy it or not?

You obviously weren't around last summer for the last Simpsons head controversy.

It's funny how people can interpret "it's possible there will be a regular box as well - we don't know" to mean "No standard box."

I meant what I said; we haven't heard anything about the standard box yet. Hopefully Fox will release artwork for the standard box like they did for season 7.

Update - There will be a standard set as well, but the artwork hasn't been finalized yet.

I used to care about the boxes, then I realized that I care more about the content.

Mysterious Voyage of Homer
Springfield Files
Homer's Phobia
Supercallafradgilisticexpeala(annoyed grunt)ious

Best. Episodes. Ever

It said S2-6 drop to $39.98 (thats the RRP right? its available cheaper than $39.98 already all over the place) from August, so I may wait until then to pick up S6-7.

I absolutely love the Homer Simpson v the City of New York one, I remember this was banned on Sky 1 for a time because of 9/11.
Damn, may have to get S9 as well

You forgot the best one of all time: Homer Vs The Eighteenth Amendment. Every single line in that one was a classic!

That's great news -- hopefully, it'll be like Season Seven, where the head version is always expensive, but the non-head version drops to be readily available at $25 within a few months.

I will probably hold off and not buy it immediately, since even if this doesn't happen exactly like that, there will certainly be big sales around Christmas.

EDIT: oh, yeah, I *really* hope they stick with the inside packaging from season seven. I love that 'Panic Room' style stacking of the discs, much better (in my mind) than the fold-out of the first six seasons (and most multi-disc sets) or the overlap style I've seen on-line but never in anything I bought (the 'Pink Panther' box has it, I believe). Am I in the majority on that one? I missed any relevant threads when the disc came out because I had no money to buy it.

I didn't really like the heads at first either, but since I bought the Homer head and I made it a mission to get the Marge head (to continue on with the head series) I will indeed buy the rest of the heads.

Also, I grew up watching this series so I will continue to buy the seasons until the show goes off the air and they finish off the series, even if that's 30 seasons!
