Well I've watched:

Pulp Fiction, Happy Gilmore, American Pie, Seven, and Mothman Prophecies, but not for any particular reason. Those were the ones I had in the queue at the time.

Do collections and multi-disc sets count, or are you literally bringing five discs? What about 2-disc sets that have the discs in a single-sized case?

I usually just randomly grab films from my unwatched stack, that way I can do something productive along the way.

Are you guys all driving and watching at the same time, or are you all passengers? I hope the latter, or I'll be staying off the roads

I would have to agree with Shagrath, watch something you've never seen before, what does it matter if you're on the road?

Or would you rather something like this:
Road Trip
Road To Perdition
Lost Highway
Taxi Driver
Beavis and Butthead Do America

I just threw 5 out there to get people thinking. The driver wont be watching the film so there is a special dynamic for on the road movie watching.

Basically it needs to be a movie that is good without needing a great visual presentation--It will be shown on a small screen and the driver will have to be able to appreciate it with sound alone, As well as the other viewers settling for a less optimal view.

I can't whip up a list of five right off-hand, however I nominate something like Vacation or Caddyshack... It sounds like you want to bring some "classic" light comedy, that the driver can remember/laugh with w/out having to watch something like The Matrix.

Wouldn't it depend on who you're traveling with and what your tastes are, what you and/or they are in the mood for that particular day, what you and/or they haven't seen before, and what the general spirit of the trip is? If I'm taking a road trip with a few of my buddies, then I'm likely to bring stuff like Super Troopers or National Lampoon's Vacation, but that would change if I was with my grandparents or had young kids with me.

I'd agree with National Lampoons Vacation

That's exactly what I was gonna say. Personally it'd probably be the best way to pass the time on the trip.

I dont do watch and drive, it kills the excitement and joy of watching a movie.

I've got a 22-hour road trip to Florida coming up next month. I need to start thinking about this.

So far I'm thinking just season sets. No movies.
