Just checked out the missing footage on Menace II Society on IMDB and would really liked to see this now. New Line needs to update this DVD.

I'd like to see some of you, uncut. As for movies, I'd pick the full uncut version of Nightmare (1981)

Waxwork is uncut on dvd despite the R on the package! I even rented both the unrated and rated VHS releases(at different times) to compare the exact running times. The VHS releases were mislabeled. The R version runs 95 minutes and some seconds(box says 97 minutes). While the unrated version actually runs 97 minutes and some seconds(VHS says 100 minute).

I did see an edited for tv version of Colors that was the extended cut. It's mostly just charecterization. One scene I remember not being included in the premium cable versions(which only show the R version/theatrical). Is when they raid one or two houses at the same time. In one house,a more nutty cop sneaks up on a couple that are having sex(only heard in the tv print..which makes me believe actual nudity/sex was cut out..since it just appeared heavily edited as we never see the couple or what happens exactly)...and I think the cop shot the guy or something(i recall a gun going off).

In the theatrical version, this sequence is cut out,and it just abruptly cuts to the cops taking a few people out of the house(s) and away.

I would really love to see uncut versions of...

Cruising
The Devils
My Bloody Valentine
Friday the 13th series
The Burning
Nightbreed

This sex scene did appear in the theatrical cut (At least that's what those 2 guys told me) and I've seen the edited version you've described. It appeared on the Lifetime Channel (Of all places) and I was curious to see how they were gonna edit that scene and It turns out exactly the way you described.
But you're most likely right about the added footage in the unrated version just being characterization. Those guys probably wouldn't have noticed the new footage if it was just some extra talky stuff.

One that I'm not sure of whether it truly has an unrated version is Last House on the Left. Keep in mind that I've only seen this movie once (On IFC) but I remember reading a Craven interview in Fangoria saying that
Spoiler:
Krug's intestines can be seen when the father drives the chainsaw into him

is this shown on the current DVD?

Cherry Falls. I saw an early cut of it and USA Films hacked out the living shit out of it.

When Universal acquired USA Films a few years ago (and when Brittany Murphy was on "top"), I was hoping Universal would re-release it unrated, but alas no.

Oh yeah,I almost forgot about that! I really want an uncut version of that as well! I refuse to buy the current version available since it is a huge hack job that destroys the impact of the film!

If the cuts to violence gore and I'm sure sex/nudity were not as obvious and extreme as they were in the R version. Then I could handle it(for now) just alittle bit. But it's edited in similar fashion to My Bloody Valentine where the cuts jump off the screen at you and take you out of the movie. Even the killers demise at the end seems heavily cut that you don't see the killer get killed. Just bam, abrupt jump cut...killer is dead. What a letdown!

Nightbreed is currently missing 25 minutes of footage according to IMDb, so that's one I'd really like to see restored.

yeah pretty much all the squib exiting 'blood' fx was cut to secure the film's R-rating, notably near the end.

The thing is, if the film were released today, it would pass for an R with very few cuts involved. The "orgy" scene was never graphic (you could see some female nudity, but it was all dark and foggy) and the deaths, despite gory, never really lingered.

I've got the Scream Directors Cut on Laserdisc. There is about maybe a minute or two of added gore especially to [spoiler] You see Steve's guts fall out when he is gutted in the begining and Tatum getting crushed in the garage door [spoiler] That's about it but it's still really good.

I've seen this movie in the theater and home video. It's been about 20 years now, but I'm pretty sure on home video you see a LOT more of Maria Conchita Alonso.

Liebestraum (1991)
Director's cut is unrated and contains several minutes of additional footage. This version is available in VHS format.

I believe the dvd release was the R-rated version.

Ya get my vote for THE DEVILS. The additional footage from the UK release really enhances the surreal tone of the film.

as to why MGM hasn't released The Burning on DVD uncut, but has released the unrated cut exclusively on VHS is beyond me.

The pie fight was never cut together into a scene, and certainly never made its way into any version of the movie.

I've never heard Kubrick say directly what happened, but Terry Southern described it as a miscommunication with the extras. The people in the pie fight played it very happy and smiley, which was the opposite of what Kubrick (and Southern) wanted. But there was no money to do a re-shoot, and Kubrick didn't feel it was neccessary.

Even if they had the footage and were willing to put it out, Kubrick never cut it together because he never thought it would be usable. So there is no scene to cut back into the movie. I'd be interested in seeing it, I suppose, as a historical curiosity, but cutting it back into the movie would be a travesty.

Re: Your most wanted 'Unrated' DVD's

I've seen a work print version of Hard Target and it appears to be more violent than the unrated international cut of the film - why Universal is sitting on this is beyond me, John Woo's debut US film got the worst editing done for it's R-rating.

I would love to have Unrated SE's of Menace II Society and Dead Presidents. They have good Criterion LD releases but I doubt CC would get the rights to these 2.

I would like to see the Unrated European Cut of Thief of Hearts on DVD....with Steven Bauer, John Getz and Barbara Williams. I saw it on VHS many years ago and even though it's a bad movie, the uncut love scenes with Bauer and Williams were really good.

Is the "R" rated version of The Burning from MGM uncut? Where did you get an uncut version of The Devils?
