From: Right now, my location is DVDTalk, but then again, you should already know that, shouldn't you?
KING KONG had the best transfer, but HARRY POTTER was the best overall release (film and extras), so it gets my vote (no DVD without a trailer, a la KING KONG, should ever win top spot, IMO).

King Kong, without a doubt. I've watched the film several times, and I really enjoyed the Post-Production Diaries, since I never saw them, until the DVD was released. This is by far my favorite DVD release of 2006.
Now, I want to get Peter Jackson's Production Diaries. If an Extended Edition is released, I'll want to get that, as well.

I am glad to see several people agree that the top DVD release of the month is 3 Films by Louis Malle. I hope that pro-bassoonist's excellent review (he rightly gave it a DVD Talk Collector's Series rating) will sway some people to purchase this set. And of course the set will make it into the collections of those who collect spine numbers...
However, I realize that the set is a bit pricey (though it can currently be had for $44 shipped through DDD) and that some have probably never seen a Malle film and thus are loath to make a blind-buy based on a couple of recommendations. Thus I encourage people to add the discs to their NetFlix queue (start with Au Revoir les Enfants and then move on to Lacombe, Lucien). I do hope that people who do not blind-buy have Netflix or a similar service--the relatively high cost of Criterions and other specialty titles should not deter film lovers from experiencing new films, and for just the cost of one new release each month.
At this point I probably sounds like a Malle cheerleader, which is okay by me. The set is my favorite of the year so far and joins The Adventures of Antoine Doinel and The Harold Lloyd Collection as my all-time favorite R1 box sets in my collection.

Good little film and the transfer looks good, considering the way it was filmed.

And if I can slide in this months choice....and it's not even out yet....
....I choose, hands down:

Emilio Miraglia Killer Queen Box(W/action figure).....from NoShame.
. Limited Edition 7000...and includes The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave and The Red Queen Kills 7 Times.
