"Extras" - Gervais/Merchant R1 release?
I know that the first series of the show was released on dvd in the UK last October. I would've thought we'd have a R1 release by now. Anyone got info as to if/when this will be released?
Thanks. |
I've read that there are currently no plans. This is complete speculation on my part but the seasons are short and there's another one in the works so I wouldn't be surprised if they were waiting to release both seasons together after Season 2 wraps up.
|
I haven't heard anything about a R1 release either. They are probably gonna do what GuruTwo said. The R2 release is really nice though, there shouldn't be anything stopping you from getting that one, unless you aren't region free of course, but it is a good set.
|
Extras Season 1 is listed as "Coming in 2006" on the promo flyer being included in the most recent HBO releases like Six Feet Under Season 5.
|
HBO tends to release the season when the next season is ready to go, to maximize on the advertising.
|
Any further info on this hitting DVD in R1?
|
I'm glad to see that someone other than myself is actually interested in this show. I have been waiting for it to come out on DvD since Entourage is already out. I hope we get this in R1 before the years end.
|
I ended up getting the R2 - it was only like $10.
|
I've been waiting and waiting for this - may have to go with R2 soon.

For anyone expecting the brilliance of The Office...forget it. I picked up the region 2 the last time i was in the UK and although the show is good....its not great. However, it is worth picking up the DVD just for the episode with Patrick Stewart talking about his ideas for movies....and of course "he sees everything." Now that was brilliant.

I'm sure there is, I just can't think of where you would go around here for that sort of TV Talk. Whatever it's called, it's something a bit alliterative. |
Tvshowsondvd.com is reporting that Extras Season 1 is going to be released on January 9th 2007. more info here:

Sounds like we just a glimpse of when HBO will be airing season 2.
|
its not that funny. the harry potter one was quite good. but it's not as funny as the office.
|
The show is excellent and definitely a worthy successor to The Office. So if you haven't seen it yet pick up this release. I broke down and bought the R2 release about a month ago for less than $10 shipped if they are the same extras on the R2 set as there are on the R1 then you guys are in for a good time. Especially the extra where they are trying to get ahold of Leonardo Dicaprio to ask him to be on the show. I swear I was pissing myself it was so funny.

Maybe the BBC are just too concerned about there being an American "Extras" to put it out over there?

BTW, just to chime in the Extras is a great series. However, being critical of it because it doesn't compare to one of the greatest TV series in history is completely unfair. That is like saying a great film sucks because it isn't as good as Citizen Kane or Casablanca. |

I thought I'd give a bump to this thread and report that it looks as if Extras - The Complete Second Season is about to be released on July 10th.
I was looking around Amazon and found this. Excellent news! |

Is this show done? No 3rd season?

I didn't really like this series - or the office. The humor is just to akward. Not that I don't think Gervaise is funny, but this was seriously painful to watch. I was embarassed at what I was seeing. You knew what was coming and you couldn't stop the characters from going there.
I didn't make it through all of S1, and I have no interest on checking out S2. |
