"Gladiator" Theatrical w/ DTS or EE?

I've only seen "Gladiator" once, in the theaters. I want to re-visit, but don't know if I should go for the excellent DTS (or so I've heard) on the original 2-disc version or the version on the newer 3 disc extended edition w/out DTS. I know the TE is on the EE as well but with only DD 5.1 that is why I specifiy. I have both verisions.

So which is more appealing to those who have viewed both? Thoughts?

Theatrical w/ dts. Love the theatrical version, which has a great dts track.

but, have you watched both to make the accurate comparison?

Yep. The EE does have some great extra character fleshing (especially w/ Commodus) and without a doubt worth the viewing, but for an overall sit-down-and-watch-Gladiator experience, I really prefer the theatrical w/ dts because of the sound aspect.

I prefer the extended scenes in the EE to the sound offered by the DTS theatrical edition.

I haven't listened to the dolby track on the theatrical edition, but the EE has the best dolby 5.1 I have ever heard. Don't get me wrong... I normally say get the dts, but the EE sounds great, more fleshing out of Characters...go for the EE.

I prefer the extended cut DTS is overrated.

i don't know how people use the "DTS is overrated" argument. i have never come across a DTS track that wasn't incredible and far superior to a DD 5.1 track (at least not on my, even meek system).

Definitely needed for 2 excellent releases such as these.
