Your Edited DVD Family Movie

While searching for a 2 disc War of the Worlds DVd on ebay, I found this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/War-of-the-World...QQcmdZViewItem

Is this fucking legal?!!!! They have a business where they "edit" dvds for "family viewing". WTF?!!! I knew that there was a DVD player that does that, but wasn't there a lawsuit several years ago about a company or video store doing something similar? And by the way, I have nothing to do with this auction, so I'm not promoting them at all, just pointing them out for curiosity and discussion.

NOTICE: In order to purchase this EDITED copy of the movie you must first have purchased the original DVDand still in working condition. You are paying in this auction for our service to have us edit your DVD for you under the "FAIR USE" copyright laws. This generally states that when you buy an original DVD (in this case) you have the right to burn it, sell it, or even edit it, just as long as it is your own private DVD.

Well, I guess they got us there......*ahem*

Is there any surprise that the seller lives in Utah? Seriously, this kind of crap embarasses even me...

I did report him actually, but it was after your original post; I don't know how fast Ebay moves in cases like this.

I don't think they understand Fair Use. One has the rights to edit their owned movies yes... but charging someone to edit it for you is not protected under Fair Use.
