Will definitely be picking up the inevitable Special Edition of the flick to be dual released. But I heavily enjoyed the theatrical viewing.

Kant 04-26-06 04:54 PM

Any news on this?

Grizzly 04-26-06 07:47 PM

no idea about the R1 release, but here in Sweden there's a 2-disc release slated for July 26th (no info on extras).

rexinnih 04-27-06 08:50 AM

Missed this one in the theaters but look forward to catching it on DVD.

Mr. Cinema 04-27-06 09:21 AM

This is also rumored to be a HD-DVD title.

Firon 04-27-06 11:50 AM

Aw man! I got suckered into thinking this was a thread about the release date.

The embarrassing thing is that I've read this thread before :o so, I guess I suckered myself.

i was flipping through dvdaf, and it had it listed for Aug 8th. No doubt this is preliminary but it'll probably be pretty close to that date.

movieking 05-05-06 02:20 PM

Just saw it at IMAX, and it was one of the very few movies that I left with the intent of purchasing the DVD.

Patrick Mirza 05-12-06 03:07 PM

V has been announced for release on August 1st

It'll be available in a regular and two-disc special edition.

Specs soon, but package art is now up.

MikeDeN2K 05-12-06 03:25 PM

That 2-disc art is *almost* perfect.

Artman 05-12-06 04:39 PM

Looks dec, though I wonder when a BR version will come along... might wait.

Would most likely come out on HD-DVD first since Warner's been supporting that more than Blu Ray, at least thats whats been happening right now.

Right, I'd be suprised if they actually don't do a same date HD DVD release as well.

But I figure given it's a new movie, it might be in one of their first-wave BR's... whenever that will be.

It's already been a part of the release lists for HD-DVD. Not for BR.

NitroJMS 05-12-06 06:51 PM

Hopefully this gets a dual HD-DVD/DVD format release like Rumor Has It. I'm holding off for the 360 add-on, but I'd love to have it early to watch. That'd be worth the extra 10 bucks to me.

So far the only studio announcing day and date releases is Sony with Underwold and Ultraviolet for Blu Ray. Warner seems like they are testing the market with the catalog titles they are putting out.

FiveO 05-12-06 07:55 PM

All I can say is...

Its gonna be a long June/July....

V For Vendetta [single and 2-disc] -8/1/06

Our industry sources have checked in to report that Warner is currently planning to release V for Vendetta on DVD on 8/1 in two versions - single-disc (SRP $28.98) and a 2-disc special edition (SRP $34.99). The single disc version will include the movie, along with the Freedom! Forever!: Making V for Vendetta featurette. The 2-disc set will include that, plus the Designing the Near Future, Remember Remember: Guy Fawkes and The Gunpowder Plot and England Prevails: V for Vendetta and the New Wave in Comics featurettes, along with a Cat Power montage. We expect that there will be an HD-DVD version as well, likely released day and date.

Can't wait.

Fincher Fan 05-12-06 11:35 PM

Great artwork for the 2-disc release!

dvduser6 05-12-06 11:43 PM

Sign me up for the 2-disc. Hope there will be some good pre-order deals to bring down the MSRP.

darmok 05-13-06 12:21 AM

2-discer with the nice poster artwork fer me!

Zodiac_Speaking 05-13-06 12:26 AM

V is mine!

DonnachaOne 05-13-06 12:29 AM

Seperate 1-disc and 2-disc? I blame digitalfreaknyc! :)

Nice that the 2-disc uses one of the posters. The 1-disc art doesn't look appetizing, much as I adore Portman.

If I were Warner, I'd have released he 1-disc in late July, followed by the 2-disc special edition on the 5th of November... at least in England.

digitalfreaknyc 05-13-06 01:10 AM

Why are there 2 threads for this?

2 disc art rocks. Single disc SUCKS.

digitalfreaknyc 05-13-06 01:12 AM

As I said, this was already on the list of HD-DVD titles. It'll be all mine. I can't wait to watch it in HD.

It BETTER have the 2 disc art. The single disc sucks ass.

Argentoholic 05-13-06 03:02 AM

Disc 2 sounds like the typical Warner fluff.

I'll save myself the extra 5-7 dollars.

FiveO 05-13-06 04:49 AM

I may buy the 1 and 2 disc editions just to pretend its a 3 disc release with lots of extras! ;)

Actually...I'll be getting the 2 disc. Loved this flick!

Nothing, absolutely NOTHING, with Natalie Portman's picture on it could suck...it's just not as good as the 2-disc's...

Mr. Salty 05-13-06 03:27 PM

Count me in for the two-disc. After the last two "Matrix" movies, I went into "V" with a lot of reservations, but came out a believer!

There aren't. The thread you started back in March was a speculation thread. This thread is about the actual release announcement.

ziondog 05-13-06 03:32 PM

Awesome, I want now!

Josh H 05-13-06 03:33 PM

Awesome, will probably get the 2 disc as the extras sound worthwhile.

Drexl 05-13-06 04:49 PM

Has anyone else noticed that none of Warner's 2-tiered releases have commentaries? I wonder if they're discouraging them to get more people to buy the 2-disc version.

dpz301 05-13-06 05:04 PM

will be a good two disc pickup if there is a good discount somewhere.

CertifiedTHX 05-13-06 05:15 PM

Didn't see this during its theatrical run, but the Super Bowl trailer intrigued me, and the vast majority of filmgoers lavished it with praise, so I'll be happy to pick up the 2-disc as a blind buy. Just wish there was a commentary.

;)

You've been around here long enough to know that doesn't matter.
