Went to 4 stores yesterday looking for this. Target first b/c of the sale price,
Costco, CC, and BB. Finally BB had approx. 20 copies, 2 of which were the B&W version! picked 1 up and pm w/ target ad. What is with this fake colorized BS??? Its like fool screen to me...its just wrong!!! Just my opinion!

Check Fry's, Borders, even Best Buy. All have both versions.

Why don't you order it online for less instead of driving around to four or five stores even if you do find it, having to pay for both gas & taxes as well?

This same thing happened with Bewitched.

The whole thing makes no sense anyways. It's like the have to do colorized to market to teenagers/young adults in a way. But, your average teenager won't be buying this show.

Most who buy this show would be people who already saw it and liked it to begin with.

It's not a new movie.

I think that colorization could help introduce classic films to a new generation of audiences, but no, I don't think kids today give a shit about these old television shows.

Flame away, but I don't see this as a big deal like I do with films. If WB was to colorize Citizen Kane or <insert film here> I'll be right there with anyone of you protesting and calling for heads.

But for Bewitched and Jeannie, two TV shows I do love, this adds some consistency with the rest of the seasons (and yes I know Jeannie is very different after the 1st), the coloroization doesn't look nearly as bad as it once did, and finally they are merely TV shows, light entertainment, basic flat lighting, and the networks probably would have filmed them in color if they wanted to spend the bucks doing so at the time.

If you want the seasons in B/W order online if possible.

The Bewitched and Jeannie colorization on the current DVDs were done during the late 80s / early 90s syndication packages. No new technology here...Jeannie will still have green teeth on this release.

Something today on the View left me rather puzzled. They interviewed Larry Hagman and Barbara Eden about the DVD set, and they discussed the first season being in black and white. Then at the conclusion of the interview, they announce everybody in the audience is getting a copy of the DVD...and they show that everybody got the COLORIZED version.

So lame.

The colorization was done circa 2000. It was not done years earlier.

There is a whole featurette about the coloring including interviews with the guys who did it on the Japanese DVD sets of BEWITCHED.

While I prefer the original version, the coloring is miles ahead of the old Ted Turner stuff.

That may be true, but I've seen these colorized Jeannie shows on Deja Vu (out of Canada), and let me tell you...you'll never mistake them for originally being shot in color. There are so many shots of cast members having green teeth, you'd think they all ate spinach for breakfast.

I picked up my copy of the B&W edition at BestBuy, but I have no idea how many they had (since I was price-matching the Target ad, they had a department manager pull it.) By the by, fans of the show should realllllllly give the pilot episode's commentary a listen:

Only place here locally that had the black & white was Suncoast, which wasn't surprising, they were the only one to have the original black & white of the first two seasons of "Bewitched". Picked up the first season of Jeannie earlier today at Suncoast, at least it was still on sale, but hidden. The B&W I wanted was behind the colorized version on the rack.

That's funny. It reminds me of when they had that Amazon special deliveries thing last year. One of them had Minnie Driver delivering a copy of The Phantom of the Opera. She mentioned to them how it had some nice special features (referring to the 2-disc collector's edition), but the disc they had ordered was the fullscreen version, which was one disc with no special features.
