Wrong Aspect Ratio on LORD OF WAR
Lions Gate released LORD OF WAR in a widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78, although it was a 2.35 original apspect ratio (OAR) in theaters.
When asked why the discrepancy, Lions Gate admitted that the 1.78 OAR was was what the production company wanted.
Just this week, Lions Gate has released a revised 2.35 widescreen version without much fanfare. At this point Lions Gate has made no offer to exchange the 1.78 versions for 2.35 ones.
What is really sneaky about all of this is that Lions Gate has made no explanation for the new 2.35 version except to ship it to dealers instead of the 1.78.
For identification look at the back of the box at the lower left corner. It will say "Widescreen 1.78" or "Widescreen 2.40."
Are we buyers just supposed to re-buy LORD OF WAR because Lions Gate made an error?
