Thanks, man. Debating on picking up this release now....

Man, the audio problem sucks! I'll have to check out my copy when it arrives (my pre-order from Amazon seems a bit delayed). I did happen to glance at the DVD at Best Buy yesterday and I was blown away by how poor the image on the cover looked. Literally, I think it is the poorest quality dvd cover I've ever seen. When I first saw the cover on DVDactive, I thought it was just poorly JPEG compress and it wasn't what the cover would actually look like. Boy was I wrong. Here's a link to the DVD active image:

I made my own cover like a year ago, and if *I* could get a high resolution image, I'm sure someone at Fox could find one. I also used the correct "Home of Happiness" logo on mine... Fox seems to have recreated it incorrectly on their cover. For those who care, here's my cover:

Heheh, no, I'm not anal or anything!
Sorry this is more about the cover than the actual release... I still thought it was more appropriate to post here in this thread than in the Covers forum.

I got the two-pack today... The discs are in slimpaks with a two page booklet for the two films... I think that's dissapointing, considering the individual release of Shock Treatment has an eight page booklet...

I picked this up a few days ago and before I read this thread.
I do not by any means have a high end setup but I did note what Matthew Chmiel was stating when I watched this this morning. I listened to the Dolby Surround and then compared it to the Dolby 5.1 Surround and could hear the audio although the Dolby Surround track sounded "better".
Not knowing much about the history of the film, the best that I can say about THIS DVD release, is that the documentary is not bad.
The picture quality is not bad but the colors appear oversaturated. To me, this may have been intentional as it is mentioned in the documentary. They show some scenes from Rocky Horror and those scenes look much sharper to me than the ones in Shock Treatment.
If a better version exists, I'd be interested in getting it if only to bookend RHPS.

Well, I've finally received and watched my DVD. Great picture quality compared to any other release I've seen of the film! I noticed the annoyed audio drop out during Denton USA, but then it seemed fine for the rest of the movie. The end credits have somethign different with the music too. I dont' know what it is, but I know the music didn't jump in like that when the end credits start rolling (will have to take out my VHS release to compare). Other than that I'm loving it... oh yeah, another minor thing was that it annoyed me that the black level wasn't set right on the menu screens, unless that was intentional. What I would think should appear black is actually a not so dark grey.

So let me get this straight- the sound problem is also on the 2-channel track (which should be unaltered- I could care less about the 5.1 track since digital sound didn't exist in theaters yet when this was released and I'm pretty sure there was no 70mm with magnetic track for this movie)? If so that's one less disc I'll have to buy (along with the Star Wars Trilogy), I saw this one's also got the stupid slipcase with no shrinkwrap over it so that'll limit where I could get it from anyways!
