A new low for "S.E."s? Removing the anamorphic transfer (The Cutting Edge: SE)

Just got the new The Cutting Edge: Going For The Gold Edition. Threw it in my player and noticed that it wasn't anamorphic. Thought it may have been a player setting...nope. The new "SE" no longer has the anamorphic transfer of the original six-year old disc. On top of that the movie is running at a faster speed as well (almost like PAL speedup, the runtime is now listed as five minutes shorter) for some reason. Sure enough the new packaging doesn't indicate "anamorphic" anymore. Hmm...the menus and "bonus" trailers are anamorphic, of course.

The kicker is that this is possibly the worse SE ever in that there is only one new feature (a 10 minute retrospective piece). That is unless you count the sneak peak of putrid-looking The Cutting Edge 2 as an new extra. These are both listed as the extras on the box plus "and more!" There is no more. That's it. Oh yeah, you also get 5 trailers of old DVD's (Hitch, Ice Castles, etc.) to further reduce the available single-layer disc space for the movie . I feel sorry for those who got rid of the original disc for this one.

I noticed the new Sony logo at the bottom of the box from the MGM acquisition. I guess this is what we have to look forward to with the MGM catalog. Woo-hoo can't wait to see the new Bond discs!

You'd have to think that Sony would put A LOT more care in the Bond flicks than The Cutting Edge (it was, after all, the entire reason for the acquisition). Still, that's unbelievably shoddy work. Screw them.

Yeah, that was just a joke with the Bond's, though it does suck with what they'll get away with on smaller titles.

That sucks!!! I'm sure that there will be a lot of pissed of fans come Tuesday. Come to think of it Sony has really been getting on my nerves lately, first with the massive list of oop titles and now this.
