You know, all jokes aside ... I've never seen this, and because of all of the ridiculously terrible reviews from, well, everybody it's gotten, I've never checked it out. What makes it so awful?

1) They messed with the Godzilla mythos
2) bad acting
3) pretty dumb plot

All that being said, I don't think it was any more horrible than Van Helsing, Underworld, Troy or other blockbuster films that seem to have a found an audience even though they were equally bad. I paid $5 for this at the Walmart dump bin and enjoyed watching it with my 4 year old nephew so it was worth it to me.

The thing is, they tried to reinvent Godzilla, and that's just not neccesary. Just have men in rubber suits stomp on model cities. In fact, if they had titled it something like "New York vs The Iguana", it'd be a passable B grade monster flick.

Yep....I agree I thought it was a decent movie.....what made it not so good was the fact if was supposed to be Godzilla.

I realize they tried to make some realistic aspect about it but that's not what we asked for.

Spoiler:
I mean it took a few missles to kill him? The real Godzilla doens't even blink

I haven't checked but I'm actually curious what they even think they could add to make an already hostel auidience want to buy this again.

I've always been mildly curious as to how the movie would play with a Japanese language dub...

I agree it's not the worst movie ever, but the problem was this movie was mega-hyped for months and just didn't deliver, causing it to be a gigantic letdown. I'm sure the expectations for this was alot higher than the titles mentioned above.

The first half of the movie is pretty good. Everything leading up to the moment where you see godzilla is done really well. The effects are top notch. Its a fun movie but its not godzilla. Someone mentioned Troy, I thought that was just as good as any historical movie. Dont see why that movie is sort of hated or gets bad reviews
