Any Word on a Star Wars box set?
Has anybody heard any news on this subject? I heard Lucas was releasing a comprehensive 6 film set on the new blue ray DVDs. Is this true? If so, when?

But that will be years from now. Lucas is not going to release something as huge as Star Wars on a format that only has a few adopters. He's going to wait until the format (Blu-ray, or whatever) has huge market penetration with millions of households.
You have a long wait if you're expecting a high def Star Wars set.

Star Wars? Never heard of it. I think you mean Star Trek.

Not to be anal, but there's no such thing as "blue ray DVDs". DVDs are one technology and Blue Ray discs are another technology. That's like asking when your favorite band will release their new CD record (you do remember records I hope).
I agree that Lucas will hold on to Star Wars until tons of people are crying for them and most people are itching to buy them in hi-def.

Those who say Lucas will not produce a high-definition Star Wars set until Blue-Ray has solid footing are probably correct. But I hope he does something more with standard DVD. I would love to see a mega set of all six films with the rumored further changes to the original three. (Don't care to pine for the classics anymore. Losing battle.)
The 30th anniversary of ANH is coming up next year, and I wouldn't be surprised to see something happen for that. Then again, as I think about it, aren't they prepping a 3D version to be shown in specially equipped theaters within the next year or two? Maybe that is what they're planning for the big anniversary.
