Superbowl XL DVD

DVD Talk Special Edition
Have mine preordered through NFLShop.com - with the t-shirt/hat/DVD bundle. Tempted fate and ordered it the week before the Super Bowl.
I think it's par for the course to have all of the game action on the newer championship DVDs. A lot of my friends have the Syracuse national champions DVD, and the whole game is on there. Hell, Major League Baseball released a boxset of the Red Sox's full ALCS/World Series run.
Watched my tape of the Super Bowl yesterday, can't wait to get the DVD!
Go Steelers!
cheers,
-the Jesus

The broadcast version won't be on the dvd. NFL Films have the rights for all NFL footage. That's why you never see broadcast tapes of NFL games on ESPN Classic, it's always the NFL Films version.
So what we get, just like ALL previous NFL dvds are the NFL Films angles, etc. Every play is present, but none of the in-between stuff, and all the odd NFL Films angles, like an extreme close-up of Hines Ward's face as he's sprinting down field, a close-up of the shoe of an defensive lineman, the weird slow-mo action, the "film like" look of the footage, etc. For example, the total time of the actual game footage on last years Patriots DVD was under an hour. It's every play, but very chopped up and all the odd NFL Films angles. Your best bet is to either keep the version you recorded, or find someone who recorded the broadcast and burned it to dvd.
With all that said, as a diehard Steelers fan I'll be buying this. That doesn't change the fact that I hate NFL Films versions of games, but I don't mind the behind the scenes stuff, the coaches mic'ed up on the sideline, etc.
