The first film was also made 'better' for US audiences by over-dubbing Mel Gibson with an American voice (although he is American of course, he's got an Australian accent having lived their since childhood).

I think all the latest versions of Mad Max have the correct Gibson voice and are uncut. Thank gawd.

Yes, Road Warrior is the North American name only. I would like a non-dubbed versions of Mad Max 2 also. I *thought* there was a R4 release that was not dubbed, but I think it went OOP. It's on my permanent Wish List.

- Mutiny on the Bounty (1962 version)
- The Plague Dogs: Uncut Version (1982)
- White Mischief (1988)
- Kafka (1991)
- Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970) [letterboxed]
- The Quiet Earth (1985)
- Whore (1991)
- Monster in a Box (1992)
- Time Indefinite (1993)
- Six O'Clock News (1997)
- Double Indemnity (1944)
- Captain Horatio Hornblower (1951)
- Blade Runner: Workprint Cut (1982)
- Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse (1991)
- Police Squad! (TV, 6 half-hour episodes)
- Medusa: Dare to Be Truthful (Showtime special)
- Chris Elliott: Action Family and Chris Elliot in FDR: A One-Man Show (Cinemax specials)

And last, but not least, all of the original Simpsons shorts from The Tracey Ullman Show

The Quiet Earth is such a good film...and available from the UK if you have a region free player.

I'm waiting for lots of things to show up on DVD in R1

The Glass Key
Double Indemnity
The Blue Dahlia

But most of all...

Bogart -
All Through the Night
Conflict
Black Legion
Invisible Stripes
King of the Underworld
etc.

Across the Pacific
Action in the North Atlantic
and
Passage to Marseilles
are all coming out this year.

I just wish Warners would release those titles a little quicker -like Paramount does with their catalog titles. Paramount may release a lot of bare bones classics, but the picture quality is usually really good, and just having those movies on DVD at all is something I'm glad to see.

All Region 1:
I don't think anyone mentioned Ken Russell's The Devils
or the Conqueror Worm
Also as others have mentioned:
Blood on Satan's Claw
Flash Gordon SE
Twins of Evil
Vampire Circus
Road Warrior SE

EddieN 02-15-06 11:39 AM

So Region 2 gets a nice release of a Burr-less '54 Godzilla this week. So when, dammit, when is it our turn?!

Sonny 02-18-06 09:42 AM

The Sterile Cuckoo with Liza Minelli. I haven't seen this one listed ever.

HunterTarantino 02-19-06 08:59 PM

Still waiting on:
Star Wars theatrical cuts (doubtful)
Twin Peaks re-issue and Season 2
Batman (1966 TV show)

Could go for:
Night of the Creeps (IIRC I heard Columbia has the rights to this one)

Special Editions of:
Blade Runner
The Road Warrior
Braveheart
Apocalypse Now (both cuts)
Lethal Weapon 1 + 2
Grosse Pointe Blank
The Naked Gun (Considering Paramount's track record of naming SEs of things, we could be getting the "Nice Beaver" edition if it ever happened)
Beetlejuice
Austin Powers (with the Christian Slater scenes and maybe some other goodies)

And at the end of the day, approaching ten years of DVD collecting (it'll be the 1-0 on December 20, 2007), my top ten favorite movies are all available in substantial special editions.

Yes and yes. I hope one day that Austin Powers will also incude the "Fendi Case" scene in the movie as i have always found it sad they cut that out.
