MI-5 Box sets. Why are they priced so high?

I was looking at the MI-5 box sets and your spending 40-50 bucks for 6 episodes in the first season, then $55.00 for the other and all you get is 10 episodes in each. I don't mind paying a little extra for tv series if there are fantastic like the X-files and such (I paid roughly $50.00 for each) but at least there was 22 episodes. Why are these so high with half of the episodes. They look like they would look good next to my 24 box sets but I don't know thats steep for what your getting.

Recent BBC shows tend to be expensive MSRP-wise.

I do like the show, especially the BBC version, not the A&E chopped up versions (almost 20 minutes are cut on the A&E in order to fit commercials within the hour timeslot).

A great great show, but the price is so painful for the number of episodes.

I own the first two seasons on R1 dvd, and thanks to the internet, have been able to see seasons 3 and 4 rather than waiting for the (assumed?) dvd release - the show just continues to be fantastic.

Get a region free player and pick up the R2 versions. They usually go for about $30 (post currency conversion).

That's the best thing to do. But if you do that, look for SPOOKS, the proper title for this show.

AFAIK, the DVD releases of MI-5 replace all the cut footage that A&E take out.

I assume the R1 price is so high because they probably do not sell a lot of them.
How popular was MI-5 in the states?

I picked up seasons 1-3 R2 better price and I was able to get them way before they came out her.

I don't think it's a very popular show in the US, but man....it's one of the best I've seen. I think it's one of my favorite shows of all time, and I'm constantly recommending it to people. I was sold after the second episode, which made me leap from the couch, mouth hanging open.

It is a great show. It could have been very popular here if A&E had done a good job marketing it. It's kinda of a shame HBO didn't pick it up, it would have fit in nicely with there programming slate (and they wouldn't have cut up the episodes to fit in commercials).

A real missed opportunity.

I love this series. I really want to pick up all of the seasons, but they are just much too expensive. I might get the PAL versions from Amazon UK.
