anyone know why my Wicker Man won't play anymore?
I was in the mood to watch The Wicker Man last night, so I pulled out my fancy-schmancy Anchor Bay 2-disc wooden box set and watched the extended version disc. However, then I decided to compare it with the theatrical version, but when I popped that disc in, it wouldn't play. The FBI warning and the Anchor Bay logo come up, but then the disc just goes dead... and clicking menu or play or random buttons doesn't seem to help. I tried everything from cleaning the disc, to trying it on three separate players, but still no dice.
Does anyone know of defects with this edition of Wicker Man or, for that matter, has anyone heard of this particular problem before? I had the old Universal disc of Psycho that simply stopped working altogether, but why would the FBI warning and company logo play but nothing else?
Any suggestions? feedback? Prayers?

No problem.
I guess I should check my copy too. Though I wonder if it is just the limited edition as it states in the defective DVD thread. Myself, I have the regular edition.

The limited edition of Heathers had a similar problem, but the single disc version wasn't affected.
I figured out which version of Heathers you were referring to? I did not recall there being a limited edition with the first Anchor Bay Entertainment release of Heathers. So this had an error that was not present in the regular release? Interesting.
However, the later, THX version of Heathers had a DVD rot problem too with the early pressings. Poor Heathers.

I was referring to the version of Heathers that came in a tin with a bunch of goodies (such as ruler). I bought this version, watched it, and put it on my shelf. The next time I wanted to watch it, it wouldn't play. I returned it, and picked up a copy of the regular edition, which still plays as far as I know.

I checked my wooden box Wicker Man and both discs played fine.
I had the Heathers problem way back when and got a replacement from Anchor Bay.
