Well, it does say it's 2 discs! I'll wait and see what actually happens though.

Sweet. I've been waiting to upgrade this non-anamorphic disc. And with a 2-disc set we're bound to get something worthwhile. Here's to hoping they don't make it some gay ass sub title edition.
Now where's my WS copy of Toy Soldiers?

As long as it's OAR and anamorphic, then I'm sold. Of course if they want to throw a John Milius commentary and a making-of doc with interviews with all the principle actors, I certainly won't complain either. Ahh...more glorious '80s action cheese for my collection.

Thanks for the news. Bummer on no commentary and that "carnage counter" sounds in bad taste, but everything else looks alright--As long as there's a big variety of participants involved in the featurettes.

There's a typo.....English and French stereo???? AHHH!!!!!
Mopower is right, screw SE, bring it to Blu Ray.
I'll still have to get it though. It just sucks they would screw us on the audio.

why couldn't there be at least a 5.1? it may have not be correct, but 2.0 will be flat for a release like this.

No featurette on drinking deer blood?
Still, a SE of this is awesome. I haven't seen it since probably 86 or 87.
The scene where the paratroopers drop out of the sky while the kids are in class is still etched on my memory.

Just in case anyone here hasn't heard...
Intrada Records has just released a brand new, remastered and complete soundtrack CD of Basil Poledouris' score for RED DAWN.
They originally put out the score (in much shorter form) on vinyl waaaaaaayyyyyy back in 1985. It was there inaugural release, so this is something of a special occassion for the company.
You can get it here:

awesome artwork! but for an SE it seems so lackluster and for 2-discs. Stereo 2.0 really makes me sad.

i am a bit surprised also that there is no 5.1 upmix.
hopefully there will be at least a worthwile new transfer! just watched my old non-anamorphic dvd, which is terrible in terms of picture....real bad vhs material!
i can already confirm a slipcover!

The cover is way too literal - "Red Dawn" was the dawn of the invasion, which didn't happen literally at dawn - probably was around 8:30 am?
Anyway, I'll be passing on this one since it has no commentary.

Just watched this yesterday. I haven't sifted through the supplements, but the new transfer looks pretty damn good. I wish they had given this a 5.1 mix as it could have really benefitted from a fuller surround sound during the explosions and gunfire scenes, of which there are plenty. I'll probably watch the extras tonight. For $15 it was easily worth the money for this new edition.
