The Evil Dead return again?(rumors of new set)

Wow. Just when we thought we may have seen the last of the Evil Dead DVDs from Anchor Bay, rumors crop up that lead us to believe the franchise is still being milked for all it's worth.
Though many say the Book of the Dead edition of the original Evil Dead is the definitive version of the film, Anchor Bay may have plans afoot to try and outdo themselves yet again. A reader by the name of Gilbert pointed us toward the official site for Ladies of the Evil Dead, where they make mention that their documentary, which has been many years in the making, will be featured on a 2006 "Cabin Set" version of Evil Dead.
Here's what I picture when I hear "Cabin Set": a limited edition packaging that actually looks like the cabin from the films and includes definitive versions of all three films, plus a bonus disc or two filled with supplemental materials. The info on the Ladies’ page does suggest the inclusion of many "juicy tidbits," which could mean any number of things from a new documentary to the long sought after "Within the Woods" short film.
We’re trying to pry an official confirmation from Anchor Bay now, so hopefully we’ll be able to update you very soon!

If this does come out and I won't be surprised if it does. I would only consider buying it if the set contains this.....
#1 unmatted/fullframe transfer and a matted widescreen option for the first film.
#2 original mono audio mixes for part 1 & 2
#3 restored from film elements(not VHS) extended version of Army of Darkness. If they just rehash the older dvd, then forget it! The Theatrical cut must be included as well.
#4 closed captions on all the films(Army is the only one missing captions from the A.B. releases).
Oh and if Within The Woods could be included, that would be nice as well and make it a must buy
I would also hope the transfers are the best they can be..without destroying the original look/feel/mood of the films. The screen captures I have seen of the latest ED2 release have me avoiding it like the plague. It looks like they jumped the brightness up way to high and even altered the color in various scenes.

I certainly wouldn't be foolish enough to suggest that future "Evil Dead" re-releases should be ruled-out but the mere fact that this report suggests that "Army of Darkness" would be included proves that it's mere speculation.

Julie, the news you shared was already 4months late, the said speculation were buzzing around since September last year. And sad to say, there were no finalization yet on this set.
too bad.. well here is the link of that rumor

As of present, Anchorbay does not have the rights anymore for Army of Darkness DVD release/production.
I think it would be better if this thread is locked and merged to this thread:

More Evil Dead? What a shock. I hope they actually lose money if/when they rehash this shit again. I've never seen anything milked this bad. Doesn't AB have anything better to do?

I think that in like 30 years, looking back, The Evil Dead movies will have had the most video releases of any title of all time... Anchor Bay is now pretty much beating a dead horse... leave that fucking horse alone!

HEY! HEY! This isn't ****ing funny anymore!
I've held off on buying any edition of the Evil Dead films for SO LONG! Now with the packaging of Book of the Dead 1 and 2 together, I was set to buy it any day now.
But a set of all three films would be incredible - agghh, I want to own the films but this speculative news is completely messing with my judgement!

Well then I hope Universal would release Army like they did The Blues Brothers. With both versions of the film included(and the extended version fully restored).

It won't help you find which companies offer it, you'll have to check with your local provider(s). If they don't offer it, you could make a request to get it,and it should be available sooner or later.
DirectTV offers this channel in their lineup, not sure who else.
