"Wuthering Height's 1939 Goldwyn Version?
Anyone know if this will ever be re-released? At one time I believe this was out on the HBO label. This is the definative version. Not the Dalton color remake.
Thank's!

As I understand it MGM/Sony now has rights to this title and they're just sitting on it. Take a look at what the HBO DVD is selling for these days, too. It's crazy!
Um, hello! People want this on DVD again!

It is amazing how many highly regarded classics languish on the studio's "to do" list, while lots of stunning crap gets into the stores. I guess we just have to be patient, and hope they run out of crap .....

DVD Talk Special Edition
I got tired of waiting for Sony/MGM to get their act together, so I picked up the Hong Kong (BoYing) R0 (though back cover says R6) "50th Anniversary" edition of Wuthering Heights on eBay. Fair transfer (probably on a par with the old OOP HBO edition, which it might have "ported" as the closing titles end very abruptly), no extras (unless you count Chinese subtitles), but it was only $6, so I'm not complaining.

When MGM got the rights to Samuel Goldwyn, so far they've released The Pride of the Yankees and Come and Get It. Stll waiting for MGM to release Wuthering Heights, Wilson and Goldwyn Follies.

Fortunately, I still have my laserdisc copy.

I'm glad I held onto my Wuthering Heights dvd, though by today's dvd standards, it's sorely lacking. I learned a lesson that I should never have sold my dvd of Double Indemnity (albeit a crappy transfer) when Universal announced they were releasing a special edition back in 2004. Of course, the release was delayed, and there is no news at all (hello, Universal...how about an update?). A special edition of both movies would be welcome by all. It would be great if these two titles were to receive the same kind of loving care that Warner Brothers expends with most of their classic dvd releases.
