75 at least. That number has grown since January 1st. Mainly due to Columbia House and some good dvd deals. I can't resist.

This is so true. It kills me to have someone ask me how a certain movie I own is, when the truth is, I haven't seen it.

About a year ago, I 86'ed my backlog, but was in the hole again almost right away because of the Fox sale, DDD sale, along with some strong release weeks and deals.

I have a separate DVDAF account specifically for keeping track of what's been watched and what hasn't. There are several multi-movie sets (i.e. the Hitchcock Signature Collection) where I've seen all but one or two, but until I move the set into my "watched" folder, I've got all nine titles in my "unwatched" que.

It's all good, though. I've been avoiding some tempting weekly specials, not snagging the new releases right away, or if I do, I've been watching them within the next day or two. Right now, I'm breaking up a comic collection of over a thousand and can watch stuff while I go through the grading process. With probably not even 2/5 of the collection graded, I've got plenty of time to work and catch up on the backlog.

That sounds good in theory but come on...do you think you can really do it? I know i can't. Especially when you have to get them when they first come out and get the sale price

Out of 452 DVD's (started 1998) in my library, only 3 DVD's are still sealed/unseen - all recently purchased during the DDD 20% off sale.

1) Rabbit-Proof Fence (WS)
2) The Rookie (WS)
3) Ladder 49 (WS)

2 of the Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers boxset and City of God are my only blind buys that remain unwatched. DVDs of movies I have seen but have not actually watched the DVD are much higher in number. That's because I buy most catalogue movies AFTER I've just recently rented them, so they sit around on the back-burner before getting a spin. The one I'm most ashamed of, however, is American Beauty, which I bought upon its initial release and watched its special features and the commentary but not just the film. That's going how many years now?

NONE - out of a collection of about 350 DVDs! I always try and watch the new ones ASAP - why?? If it's a defective disc it generally has to be returned to the store within 30 days of purchase to get an exchange.

Hundreds. But then, I have over 1800 dvds. It's tough to find the time to watch everything.

It always sits right at 10% of the collection. I've probably got around 25-30 that I need to watch.

I've only got a couple hundred dvds, mostly since I started using the Hollywood MVP pass instead of buying. Anyway, I've only not seen about 2 of them. I've never really understood buying movies that I'm not going to watch. If I wait until I want to watch it, it will probably be cheaper.

i use a % - like to keep it below 10% of my entire collection. Since I buy a # of WB Box sets when they are on sale - it really only take me one order to have 8+% of my collection unwatched!!

I own somewhere in the neighborhood of 520 total.

Unwatched Movies: about 160 (not counting ones on loan from friends/the library)
Unwatched TV Seasons: 23

Curse you, cheap pawn shops/GameStop/Best Buy/lack of willpower!

Lol, I broke down and bought Lord of War when I saw the price they had at Wal-Mart. Deep down inside I knew I wouldn't last through the release of "The Virgin Spring" if I made it through this week.

I have way too many unseen DVDs still in shrink-wrap. I have to slow down my purchases and catch up on some viewings before spending more money.

I own over 900 DVDs, many of them complete seasons of TV shows.

Yet, the only DVDs I haven't watched yet are the three I bought today:

Mary Tyler Moore 3rd Season
Underworld
The Aristocrats

None.

Nothing gets filed in the collection until it's been thoroughly inspected. Commentary tracks, bonus materials, EPKs, easter eggs; everything. I'm super paranoid about having something in the library that I'm not aware of. (Plus, the hassle of tryuing to return a defective disc month slater)

When I go on a buying rampage (especially TV sets and Criterions) it means going days without sleep, but it's always worth it.

And TV sets usually get watched in their entirety, without a break. Stuff like 'Buffy' season sets are studied in 17-hour marathons.

Same deal goes with books, magazines and CDs. Nothing ges filed until it's been approved; I'm very strict about such things.

Has anyone ever gone through their entire collection watching every special feature in addition to the movie? I usually just watch the documentary and that's it, but I may try to start doing this.

I always watch all the special features. And listen to all the commentaries.

That's correct based on extrapolating from a subset of about 400 titles.
