Same here. It's all about access. I buy movies that pique my interest. Even if I don't get to them right away, I eventually do. The hope is always that I will find a film that makes it into my all time favorites, but it usually takes a while for that to digest. One of my biggest mistakes is deciding what I thought about a film within a day of seeing it, and selling it if it didn't "bowl me over". In many cases, 6 months down the line I find myself wanting to see a film again. So right now I've made a decision to not sell any blind buys until a few months after their initial viewing. I find having a somewhat set schedule for viewing helps in decreasing the number as well. I've gotten away from that in 2005 because I move dinto a ne house and things were hectic for a while. But 2006 is going to be the year I dig a nice deep groove into my HT loveseat. :D The challenge is balancing new movies with ones I love. I have my HT because I want to see movies like Star Wars, LOTR, and my favorite dramas in the best way possible. So I try to watch all of my favorites at least once a year. |
There 30 out of 548 movies that I own on DVD that I haven't viewed yet. I've seen half of those before. The remaining ones are either newly acquired or part of a boxset that I'm making my way through. For example, I just picked up the Tarzan Box set and haven't even opened it yet.
There are 13 out of 194 Laserdisc that I own that I haven't watched yet. Similarly, the are only a couple that I haven't seen before. I tend to watch things right away. |
I have at least 100-200 out of over 1000+ DVDs.
Yesterday my son (18) was sorting the putting away that piles of DVDs (not sure why he was so inspired) when he came across one and said, "I didn't know we had Shawshank Redemption!!" Yes, it was still unopened. Sigh, but I will get to it.... |
If you count everything i haven't seen then its around 47 out of a little over 500. If you don't count the ones that are my wife's that i really don't have much interest in watching then that number goes down by about a third.

Too many to count (mostly my TV-on-DVD); have a lot with the DVDs still in the shrinkwrap.
|
I have only a few:
The Bachelor Hamlet (Mel Gibson) Empire of the Ants / Tenacles (double feature) |
Out of over 2000 titles....I still have 16 un-viddied. Thats only because work has been busy over the last 4 weeks of new releases. I'm catchin' up.:D
|
this year I dropped one title for rental off of my Netflix account and reverted back to two DVD's from Nicheflix, just so I could get some time to watch the DVD's in my own collection.
|
45 unwatched seasons of shows
15 movies |
I'm at around 250 but I've come to the painful realization that TV shows will take much longer to get to.
|
Just one or two. I know I haven't watched The Shining yet, which I got in the WalMart deal.
I haven't watched every ep on a few of the TV shows I own, but have watched some, so I don't know if they count. I'd hate to have a bunch of unwatched DVDs laying around. I figure, if I won't/cant' watch them, don't buy them. |
zero
|
I currently have 25 unwatched movies. And that's actually just about how I like to keep it. When it's time for a new movie, I always have a nice selection to choose from to match my mood.
I also have 5 unwatched TV sets and two unwatched TV related movies (Homicide: The Movie and Serenity). I still need to watch Homicide Season 7 before getting to the movie and I need to watch Firefly before Serenity. I have 5 more movies that are wife movies. I'll wait to watch them with her. Then there's about 11 kid movies that are appropiate for watching with the kids. |
As far as movies/shows i've NEVER seen. Zero.
As far as ones I've seen, but haven't watched the DVD since buying, probably around 10. |
Out of around 400-450 dvds and tv show sets, I'd say 1 TV boxset and 2-3 movies. Over the last year, I traded in and sold a ton of stuff I hadn't touched or didn't think I'd really watch again.
I'm much more picky with my purchases anymore, so I usually watch new items the same week I get them. If its a blind buy and I don't think I'd watch it again within a year or so I get rid of it ASAP. |
I add 5 a week and probably only watch 2 - 3 new ones so it will just keep growing. I'm guessing a couple hundred right now.
|
I'd say probably 50-60. I'm not sure. I need to buckle down and fix that. My wife continually asks why I keep buying DVD's when I have so many that I haven't watched. It's getting harder to defend myself.
|
about 33 out of 148. Those include the ones I have seen before but just havent watched them on dvd yet.
|
too many unfortunely.
|
Way too many unfortunately.
|
50 to 60, including some TV Sets, and some stuff i've dl'ed and burned to DVD, like fansubbed anime...sigh...and this is after i''ve cut back buying....:)
|
Only one movie I haven't seen. Around 45 out of 122 that I've seen the movie/show but haven't watched the DVD yet.
|
Zero... I blind buy quite a bit but a movie that I haven't seen is always my first priority if I want to watch a movie. It drives me insane to own a DVD that I haven't seen.
|
Right now no more than 20, since I haven't been buying a lot lately, but at one point, I had about 60 unseen DVD's.
|
Fargo & School of Rock which i got both for cheap on boxing day and have seen them many times anyway but wanted to own.
And for TV just season 7 of Buffy which ive had since it came out but still havent got into the mood to watch it partly cuz i didnt really enjoy it alot but i wanted to complete the series set :D |
