As has been noted in several threads, Universal seems to have a real problem figuring out how to market their back catalog of Noir titles. They have been sitting on some of the finest Noir titles around (The Glass Key, The Blue Dahlia, Double Indemnity) while Warner Brothers and Fox have been selling their classic Noir titles by the truckload.

If they just released them either, A.) like Fox with the same cover style and numbered releases or, B.) like Warner Brothers both in box sets and individually, they would sell a ton of those three titles.

If they chose "A" then they could re-relase the initial wave of the "Universal Noir" series to match up the cover art and give them release numbers 1-4.

If they chose "B" then they just need to use the original poster art and put them together in a box set and they'd be good to go.

Considering how successful Warners and Fox have been with their Noir series it boggles the mind how much time Universal has wasted, and how many potential sales they've given up, in just holding on to those titles in their vaults.

If anyone from Universal is reading this - get it together! If you need someone to help you put together a packaging and marketing strategy I'll do it for free!! (Well, almost for free...)

Universal has released Double Indemnity in R2, very expensive but I have it because it's one of my top5 films.

But while the video/audio are better than the original R1 release by miles, there is no extras on it whatsoever. Hopefully they get their act together for the r1 release soon.
