Mel Brooks Collection Inc. RHMIT 4/4

Seems a little fishy as it includes Blazing Saddles. Maybe the first time another studio has loaned out a title? Anyway, for April 4th and will include new editions(hopefully 16x9) of Young Frankenstein, History Of The...

just read for yourself at Davisdvd.com

Will also include the out of print 12 chairs and finally Robin Hood Men In Tights!

ignition 01-13-06 09:05 AM

I just hope Robin Hood will be released seperately, as I own most of the titles and don't feel like shelling out big bucks for a box set.

The Schwarzennegger Collection from Fox had Total Recall, Predator, Commando, and The Running Man. This was in 1999 so all of these DVDs were the older movie-only versions.

Warner's massive Oliver Stone Collection had The Doors and Wall Street along with the WB films directed by Stone.

Even the Stanley Kubrick collection had films directed by Kubrick from Columbia and Warners in one box.

From DavisDVD.com:
20th Century Fox has announced The Mel Brooks Collection for release on April 4th. The eight-disc set will include Blazing Saddles (on loan from Warner Bros), new editions of History of the World Part I, Robin Hood Men in Tights and Young Frankenstein, along with the debuts of High Anxiety, Silent Movie, To Be or Not to Be and Twelve Chairs. All will feature anamorphic transfers and trailers. "Robin Hood" also includes an HBO special, while "To Be or Not to Be" has a featurette. Retail is $99.98.

basaro 01-13-06 09:26 AM

Since I want everything in that except Blazing Saddles I already have, I'll probably just get the box and sell BS after. It'll probably be hard to pass up the boxset price, as long as each is in it's own keepcase. This isn't Universal though, so we should be all set. :fc:

FantasticVSDoom 01-13-06 09:30 AM

Well I will be getting this eventhough I already have Blazing Saddles and could do without Robin Hood. Just getting new versions of History of the World pt. 1 and Young Frankenstein plus High Anxiety and Silent Movie is well worth it to me.

animatedude 01-13-06 09:42 AM

great news, now i know why the R2 collection was cancelled.

dx23 01-13-06 10:13 AM

Finally Robin Hood - Men in Tights!!!!

Ted Kontos 01-13-06 11:03 AM

RH-MIT has been available on R2 for some years now. Good transfer.

bunkaroo 01-13-06 11:38 AM

I'm willing to get an extra copy of Blazing Saddles to get all the other films-this will be mine for sure if HOTWP1 and YF are new transfers.

It's happened a few times before (Oliver Stone and Wolfgang Peterson sets).

We'll probably get an announcement for The Producers soon for the same date or close to it.

animatedude 01-13-06 11:55 AM

since the price is $99.98, and let's say amazon.com will have a 30-35% discount.it will be around 69.99$-65.99$ which i think is too much...but oh well.

darmok 01-13-06 12:16 PM

do you think the extras from the current YF will be included? can't tell from the davisdvd article.

$65 - $70 doesn't seem like too much for 8 movies (less than $9 per)

Walter Neff 01-13-06 01:21 PM

"High Anxiety" and his version of "To Be or Not To Be" are childhood favorites, but I wonder how they hold up. (I'm guessing not as well as "The Producers" or "Blazing Saddles.") Anyone seen these in recent years?

JOE29 01-13-06 01:28 PM

I've been waiting a long time for Men in Tights and even High Anxiety which I saw when it first came out way back when in the theatres, a new History of the World is awesome also. so needless to say I will be getting this I just have to figure out what am I going to do with my old collection of movies ( Young Frankenstien, Blazing Saddles etc. that I already have in the set.

DVD Giant 01-13-06 01:33 PM

C'mon single release of Robin Hood...pretty please....

darkside 01-13-06 03:21 PM

Can't wait for this one. I already have all the films currently on DVD, but I'll be glad to replace Young Frankenstein, History of the World and 12 Chairs with anamorphic versions.

$70 or so will be a steal, plus I can get some money for my current versions. This is a no brainer upgrade.

It will arrive soon enough after, just wait ;)
Of course, this is only my speculation.
But there are only a few titles that are only available in boxsets, and most if not all of them are series and stuff like that.

salamander2 01-13-06 04:39 PM

I really only want SILENT MOVIE hopefully this will come out by it self.

speedy1961 01-13-06 04:46 PM

Same here. When i get this collection, i'll have 3 versions of blazing saddles. Sure it's one of my favorites, but sheesh. No matter, i was looking into buying history of & young frankenstein, so this is awesome news.

TheKing 01-13-06 05:41 PM

Well this has become my most anticipated release of 2006 so far!

It would mean a triple dip on Blazing Saddles, which would be a first for me on DVD, although it wouldn't shock me if the BS that Warner loans out is just a bare bones disc, and not the full 30th Anniversary SE. I mean, why give that away to a competitor?

Regardless, it does mean upgrades to YF and History, finally getting anamorphic treatement, and the long awaited debut of High Anxiety, Silent Movie, and Robin Hood: MIT. Nice that they're releasing The Twelve Chairs as well, since it's been out of print for years and goes for $50 or so on Ebay.

PopcornTreeCt 01-13-06 06:30 PM

Robin Hood Men In Tights huh? My life will be complete now.
