the arthur cohn collection had dvd's from several different studios probably more than any other.

The Monkees 01-13-06 07:46 PM

Cool, I'll have to get that

Dan Average 01-13-06 07:48 PM

And both of the Warner Bros. Kubrick sets had Dr. Strangelove (Columbia). It's not really rare at all.

cinephan 01-13-06 08:12 PM

Yay! To Be Or Not To Be finally.

Bobweiser 01-14-06 07:53 AM

This is great news! I hope these have some great special features, especially History of the World Part 1 (Still waiting for Part 2 with Hitler on Ice!). I'd gladly replace my Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein to get new versions of the rest of them. I've been waiting for a new version of History since I got my dvd player. Couldn't see shelling out for a dvd since I had the vhs and it didn't have anything special on it. Thanks to the OP for the news!

Big Worms 01-14-06 09:41 AM

Finally RHMIT! Lets hope this is available on its own.

milo bloom 01-14-06 10:15 AM

I actually have none of these titles, so bring on the box!

rexinnih 01-14-06 11:51 AM

Never thought I'd be excited over men in tights but here I am!

cinephan 01-14-06 09:50 PM

Does anyone know if this is the barebones History of the World? I only ask because I vaguely remember hearing talk of a special edition in the works.

And if you work for Fox and have access to their studio store...which I do...MUCH CHEAPER!!! :eyebrow:

$60-$70 is a steal for this set. Maybe if you only wanted one or two of the DVDs it wouldn't be worth it, but I'm a fan of Brooks and want them all. I've already sold History of the World and Young Frankenstein on Half.com and made $20 and my auction for The Twelve Chairs is going really well since that one is currently out of print so I may not end up having to spend anything for this set. :)

well...davisdvd does say...

new editions of History of the World Part I, Robin Hood Men in Tights and Young Frankenstein

I hope all the extras stay with Young Frankenstein, and its the two disc blazing saddles.

I think the SE of BS is a single disc, unless it was 2 discs in other regions. Anyway, it's 8 discs, so it has to be a single disc.

I wonder why they even bothered to include BS. I would think that anyone who is a big enough fan of Brooks to purchase this would have already bought the SE, which has been out for a year and a half. It's not as if this set includes every movie he's made. They could have probably charged just as much for the set without having to give a portion to Warner.

DeeKay 01-17-06 12:16 PM

Although I already have YF, BS and HOTW - Pt. 1, I'll still pick up the box set. It's worth it to me to have all the other titles.

This is now available for pre-order from DDD:
http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=FXD026749

$73.19 is a decent price, but I think it will drop rather quickly after it comes out, so I'm holding out for now.

Mr. Cinema 01-22-06 09:21 AM

After buying the 15-disc Hitchcock Collection for about $85, getting an 8-disc Brooks Collection for $73 doesn't seem that appealing.

gryffinmaster 01-22-06 02:11 PM

Has anyone caught word on whether RH:MIT will be offered up alone? Here's hoping!

That's less than $10 a movie and is a must buy. Granted I just sold my copy of The Twelve Chairs for $79 on eBay and made $23 selling History of the World and Young Frankenstein. So once I sell Blazing Saddles I'm going to make a nice profit on this double dip. As long as I waited for most of these to come to DVD I would pay double this to get them.

surfingelectrod 01-22-06 07:44 PM

I don't own any of these (I should...), so this is a must purchase for me.

MrStayPuft 01-22-06 07:55 PM

I only own Blazing Saddles, so I will definately be buying this boxset.

Amazon has it for a bit less (then even a bit more off with the A9 discount):

The only Brooks I own is Spaceballs, but half of the movies in this set I've never even seen, so I'm not sure yet.

ASAPadam 01-23-06 10:21 AM

I don't have any of these DVDs either, but I will in April!

I ordered the set from bn.com (Barnes & Noble) for $59.48 + tax, using a 15% off coupon for B&N members -- 4MZL9XA -- (the coupon expires at 2:59 a.m. ET Tuesday.)

I'm very dissappointed by this release. I can't believe that the only supplemental features in most of them are only trailers. Fox is now becoming the new Universal when it comes to DVD releases.

ShagMan 02-22-06 08:59 AM

Wow, that is pretty bare. Still, not bad for 8 hilarious and witty movies. The boxart is pretty good too.
