Odd, huh? |

It is the old release. They just stuck it into the current set. That had better be a mistake and not something that happens a lot. I will be pissed if this is a situation where they had a few hundred of the old discs still in the warehouse and figured they would just put them in the set to get rid of them. |
i think its a mistake, mine was basically the coverart on the disk.
|
This gets my vote for oddest and most confusing release so far this year.
Anyone got any any info on what the Robin Hood: MIT disc is like? |
The weird thing is, that's not the disc I have for the original release. My copy has disc art that says 1998.

Are the discs really in those slim caes? The photo of YF looks like it is a normal DVD case.
Slim Cases vs Normal Cases will determine if I buy this set or not. |
its slim cases
|
Woah, Crap shoot-time....!
|
i'm waiting for them to release them individually. not compelled to own all the titles in the set, and the thinpak cases look cheap and flimsy!!!
|
I think the photo above is someone showing their old version. Definitely slimcases in the box set.
Also, I wonder if later repressings of the old disc dropped or added the 1998. I bought my copy of the old YF back in 2001-I'll have to check if it has the year or not. |

There were two versions though of Young Frankenstein with identical content on the disc, but different covers and I guess different disc art. The other cover looks like this. http://img.oddbanana.com/coverart/am...01909bxlvl.jpg |
Just found out some interesting info.
From an HTF member, his friend's copy which has the old disc has white text on the slimpak spine, and the art isd actually the same art as the old disc just converted to a slimpak format. It has a UPC too. This is strange because none of the other discs have a UPC. Mine has no UPC, new art, and most importantly, yellow text on the spine. This means you presumably can tell what disc in your set before opening it since the spines are visible through the shrinkwrap. So: White text=old Yellow text=new Hope this helps. |
So which release is anamorphic, if any, then? the new yellow, or old white?
|
New=yellow=anamorphic

This sounds like another Mel Brooks practical joke.
|
Well my wife just actually picked this up for me and brought it home, and my Young Frank. has the yellow writing but afraid to open it.
|
Ok so I popped my YF in and it appears to be anamorphic...I dont know any other way to tell besides that its labeled as 1.85 Anamorphic and I have no bars on my 16:9 TV and the picture appears to be pretty clear (my dvd player is an Oppo through DVI on a 47" Panny). Here is what the disc looks like in my set:

I just got my box set today in the mail from Digital Eyes.
My copy of Young Frankenstein is definitely anamorphic. I tested it in my player. Just to confirm, mine too has yellow text on the spine and no UPC. So happy I got lucky. Anamorphic versions of YF and HotWP1 are the two main reasons I got this set. If my YF was not anamorphic I would have been pissed. |
I read on DeepDiscountDVD that "Blazing Saddles" is the 30th anniversary edition, is that true?
