I know, how cheap and shoddy of them to actually use the format to its full potential instead of putting in as many discs as possible to make it look like more.

^yah, but you have to admit that the universal track record on double sided disc doesn't leave people with much hope. Its not so much about it appearing to be more, as wanting disc that work. I wish every studio would go to slimpacks (would save me tons of shelf space) but more than that I want all my disc to work without hesitation

I picked it up at Best Buy and must say that all the discs work fine, and it is a pretty classy looking set for only 16.99 and a movie pass to Lee's new sweet ass looking movie Inside Man.

I have no problem with flippers and the disc all played fine on my old and new players. Excellent set and value.

These are not DVD-18's-they are single layered on each side, so they should be fine. Only Universal's dual-layered double-sided DVD's have been problematic.

16.99 for 3 discs, 5 movies, and a $7.50 movie pass? I probably would have paid at least 22.99.

I can't see what's wrong with double-sided DVDs. They will save you money, and you get more material.

When I heard "The Spike Lee Joint Collection" was coming out I couldn't help but laugh.
Universal missed an opportunity for packaging on this one. Could have wrapped it in rolling paper and everything.

Oh, you want me to expand on this? Ok.

In my opinion, Spike Lee is a bad filmmaker.

My comment was in reference to his constant blaming of white people for every ill that exists in the world today. Of course, at the same time, he has shown his own racism and bigotry on many occasions. The man is an idiot and a bigot.

All you have to do is Google him and you can find all of his crazy and bigoted statements.

Now, was that it? Or did you have something original to add?

25th Hour shows how good of a filmmaker Lee can be.

Um, let me double-check. Yes, that IS what I said - "In my opinion". But thanks for the clairification.

The last I'll say on the subject is, IMO, Spike Lee is a bad filmmaker. In fact, based on his own words, Spike Lee is a racist person who, if he were white and made similar racist statements, he would be shunned. Since he's black, he gets a pass, just like Bryant Gumbel did recently. What a country.

Speaking of opinions --

"One of the greatest films of all time. David Lynch is an incredibly underrated filmmaker."
- thing-fish24 on 'ERASERHEAD'.

"I can accept that not everybody thinks that Ralph Bakshi (good filmmaker)'s "Lord of the Rings" film is a good film, just as you can accept that not everybody thinks that Peter Jackson (bad filmmaker)'s trilogy are good films (and I think they're downright shitty films)."

"Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy are three of the worst films ever made. They're not only bad adaptations, they're just bad. Overracting, intrusive special effects, a loud, overbearing soundtrack (it's even overbearing through speakers), a poor screenplay...Peter Jackson should have made another zombie film and forgot about Tolkien altogether."

- thing-fish24 on 'Worst book to movie adaptations'.

Ok, You convinced me, I bow to your knowledge of film.

Oh wait a minute. Speaking of 'ONLY opinions" --

"Now, I don't care about what you think about either adaptation of "The Lord of the Rings," but I'll fight your opinions on "The Shining" to the death. Stanley Kubrick IS a good filmmaker, and the changes he made to "The Shining" are minor compared to the changes Peter Jackson made to "The Lord of the Rings." And I'll be damned if you're going to bash Kubrick for being nothing more than a cinematic genius."

"All of the shots Jackson imitated were RIP-OFFS, not "tributes," you pompous ass."

"I don't want to argue with a person with such a slavish devotion to hacks like Peter Jackson. He did make a bad film. He made three bad films."

"Talk to me when you can develop some real criticism, not just slavish devotion to some loser who can't even make one good film, let alone three? (Screw the box office -- the entire American population cannot judge quality films. Look at Titanic--largest box office gross of all time, right? Titanic is a piece of shit. Good box office does not make good films. And film critics are fools, especially Roger Ebert.)"

"This is not a slapfight. This is a discussion board. When you can discuss without overstepping your boundaries, misinterpreting classic works of literature, and giving bad directors a free pass, let's come back to this."

- thing-fish24 on 'Worst book to movie adaptations'.

Spike Lee makes movies that leave you with a bad feeling after watching them and that does not make him a bad filmmaker.

ItsGreekToMe, I am amazed that you took the time to post all that....I mean I know I'm a search engine Nazi, but damn dude.

If we're spouting off opinions I'll go on record as saying I think Spike Lee has made some brilliant films, and a few stinkers (In this box you get a bit of both) and I am intrigued time and time again on all of the racism that comes to and from Spike Lee. The guy has ideals, and whether I agree or not, it makes for some interesting reading.
