Oh, well I guess. Aside from that one, I have no problems with the show. I love all the topical and political humor in it. It can go over the heads of some viewers (not a jab at the fans, just stating what I have seen), and that can be frustrating.

I am a fan for life, I will buy the sets and see the movie. I love this show!
Wasn't 50 Cent in that episode for like 12 seconds?

Costco has it for around $20 this week, instant $10 rebate.

Yes, most people were reporting success buying just S8 alone yesterday and getting it for about $20, but it didn't work for at least 1 person. This $10 discount for S8 alone was due to a glitch in the system which could be fixed by the time I get to Costco this morning.

Ah, sorry to hear that. By the way, did you see any of the Maggie heads? Or were they all regular sets?

I sure am enjoying season eight so far. I'm almost through disc 2 and it's by far the second greatest season of the show (season four is unbeatable). I don't know what the hell people find wrong with this season, and I don't want to know.

That being said, I'm stopping after season nine. That's the last good year, where the good outweighs the bad. Plus, it contains my pick for the final classic of the series, "Lisa's Sax".

Yeah something like that...but the episode in general is terrible. 50 Cent makes it worse. Again just my opinion.

It worked for me still today, TWICE.

One store had the shelf tag mentioning the $10 rebate off S7 or S8, but it never said anything about needing to buy both together.

I was able to get Season 8 by itself for $29.89 + tax on $29.89 - $10 coupon, so I was happy enough. I only saw boxes (no Maggie heads), and that's what other people are reporting in the other Simpsons/Costco thread, so I'd say don't expect any Maggie heads at Costco (at least not yet).

Since I don't like the "head" style boxes, Costco worked for me.

I guess I should have went to Costco to get mine. I wanted the regular box, and saw nothing but Maggie head versions at 4 different stores.

I guess I'm still undecided on which path to go, since I have S1-4 so far.

Are the insides of the 'normal' ones the same as the seasons 1-5? A note from Matt, and a 4 disc layout?

What's inside the head? I've seen the outside but never the in. Is there a Matt note?

EDIT: Nevermind, I just picked up 5 and 6, so I know the answers.

Did anyone else listen to the commentary for "Mountain of Madness" yet? The "fan" sitting in on the commentary acts very oddly and I almost have to assume this is longtime writer John Swartzwelder actually doing a commentary since he keeps bringing up Swartzwelder.

The "fan" is Dan Casteleneta doing a character.

No it's Dave Thomas, it says so in the booklet and in the press release.

Also anyone else notice that the head and standard box have different disk art.

I was going to stop after after season 4 or 5 but I've started to like the head boxes so I'll stop when they stop making the heads.

Really? I figured that they would be the same discs, just different packaging.

There are two different kinds of artwork for the disc, and they appear on both sets. The art has the family in different poses with a number on the disc. The other art has each family memember using their finger to show which disc it is.

Is the US Maggie Head the same size as the last two?

We Canucks got US editions of the Homer and Marge heads with (easily removeable) bilingual stickers stuck on, but this time we manufactured our own, and the new one is only about 2/3 the width of the others. It looks very weird on the shelf.

I'm used to bitching about French ruining the cover and spine art, but I've never seen one that had gone on a diet before. It is supposed to be that skinny?

'A Tale Of Two Springfields' - season 12. The truly grotesque thing about that one is that they got The Who to bring down the wall instead of Pink Floyd. What WERE they thinking?

I think I'm also going to stop with season 8. I didn't like far too many of the episodes when they first aired, and the show went downhill from there.

I just picked up the 8th season, and I have NO plans of stopping. Seasons 9 and 10 are fantastic seasons, but their consistency takes a fall seasons 11 on, but I love the show too much that they are more than worth buying.

What is the obsession with the "note from Matt" from everyone?!

Anyone found the "promos" featurette? According to the booklet it's supposed to be on disc 4, but it seems to be either well hidden (an announced easter egg?) or left off.
