One thing that is disappointing is no DTS track. Both dvd versions of the first one has DTS. I assumed this one would too. Oh well.

OldBoy 02-14-06 02:18 PM

so is there really any point to getting this release?

To watch the movie now?

I'm not one to wait on potential double-dips.. If it's definite ahead of time, and the time between the two releases isn't that great, I'll wait it out. But if it's more than six months, or the versions are different, I'll grab it. I'm sure if word drops of a double-dip on this, I can still sell it for close to what I paid for it.

how bout rent it? pay $5.00 instead of $15. and you won't be able to sell this $15 8 months from now and after another is announced.

What if I want to watch it more than once before the new one comes out? And I'm sure that you can get some schmuck on eBay to pay at least $10 + shipping for it, even within weeks of the re-release (if it happens).

Anyways, it's only $15! It's not like that's gonna break the bank for me. I'll regularly spend that on dinner out, and it's not like I can re-eat that later if I wanted to.

The Circuity City offer Sucks, the size of the Flashing Saw is that of a Milk Bottle Cap.

Peculiar packaging gimmick with the "Saw 2" DVD, from Best Buy stores, anyway. The disc HAS to be in the artwork down, with the case itself flipped over, with the comic cover facing the back (which is covered with the slipcover artwork) to display properly.

Think I'll nab the solid artwork cover from work tomorrow.

xage 02-15-06 01:12 AM

Yup!, What I did with the photo I posted was to invert the disc so that it can be viewed together with the rest.

Yeah, just like they did with Blair Witch Project 2!! What a great idea that was!!

CC sucks!

I'm getting this release but it has Extended Uncut Version written all over it. No DTS,weak menus and no extra features!

New version out later but it's ok as long they keep coming with another Saw III movie and perhaps a 4rd film :D

Basically, you have to put the DVD in the case upside down for it to show through the clear cover.

Julie Walker 02-18-06 01:07 PM

Huh? the jigsaw artwork on the dvd is on the front side and shows through the clear packaging easily. How would 'flipping' it enhance that since on the otherside of the discs is the clear section with dvd content?

I am confused here since this is not a complicated package. Like the original Saw R rated release, the disc art is visible through the clear slip case.

The way the Best Buy case is set up, the DVD case is turned around so that when you open the case, the hub is on the left side and the insert (in this case the comic) is on the right. So when you put the DVD in the hub, you're putting the side with the artwork face down in order for the artwork to show through the front.

This may be different if you purchased it at another store that did not include the comic.

Here:

"Saw 2" w/ BB comic, case closed..

"Saw 2" w/ BB comic, the way all other DVD's are displayed, case closed...(notice the barcode on the bottom left, because the case has to be turned 180 degrees, and upside down.)

Opened..

Lastly, the coverart I opted for, ditching the pain in the ass backwards displaying clear case and slipcover; the solid rental cover art which goes better with the solid art for the original "Saw"...

MrStayPuft 02-18-06 02:12 PM

Fumanstan is correct since I bought the comic version at BB as well. I ended up doing the same thing as xage by taking the comic out, and then just reversing the case basically. Had to use rubbing alcohol to get rid of the upc sticker on the bottom left corner though, that was a pain in the ass!

Gizmo 02-25-06 08:05 PM

I'll have to nab this at BB then...Just watched it and thought it was much better then the first.
