Just got back from Costco (Canada), where the set is $149 (about $125US).

I picked it up. Turns out the set is limited to 2000 pieces in Canada. I got #0960

Just started watching the animated series and I actually enjoy it. Of course I enjoyed the TV series as well.

Is the Canadian packaging bilingual?

That's what I thought. :(

If possible... can you post a pic of the box?

Thanks

I don't get it, why would you care if the box is bilingual? Aren't you just going to take the ape head out, or are you keeping it sealed in the box?

Preordered mine from Amazon in Feb. It shipped Tuesday night and I got it on Thursday. I ended up with #3290.

I already had all of the movies and tv show set, and sold them on Amazon and Half.com.

Mine came in last week while I was out of town on vacation. The girlfriend pulled it out while I was on the phone with her, and she decided it was "disgusting, way too real." Even with that comment, she put it up on the entertainment rack so it can watch tv with us. It is visible when first coming out of the bedroom, so you can see the eyes glaring at you first thing in the morning.

The packaging is very nice, and the dvd booklet holds a lot more dvd's than one would think. I haven't started watching anything yet, but am very happy with my purchase. I didn't have any of the movies on dvd yet, except for the Burton version. This should keep me busy for many weeks.

Got mine on friday, # 4316 from amazon.com. Watched 'Escape', (my personal favorite after the original), and 'Conquest'. Both looked great with the new anamorphic transfers IMO. Yes the ape head does look realistic and well detailed as well! Wish we would get more of this, like the Alien head thing I've seen posted somewhere on these pages previously. C'mon FOX you got the message yet???...& other studios as well!!! We like and want this stuff as much as the other countries do !!!

For those interested in only the Legacy boxset, Costco had it for $31.49. I didn't see the Ultimate collection available for sale, and based on this thread, it seems to have been only available at the Costco's in Canada. Has anybody seen it at a Costco in the lower 48 states?

sparks 04-02-06 08:10 PM

I'll check it out tomorrow in Los Angeles.

kanamit 04-04-06 01:34 AM

I just bought the Legacy box set pretty cheap.
Nice to see the sequels in Anamorphic, plus the extended "Battle..." scenes.

I already have all of these other things, except the cartoon discs.
I was disappointed when I discovered they weren't released yet individually.

Any clues when they'll be available?

Just got mine yesterday. That head is really creepy. Freaked out my kids and they are 20 and 18! Goes great in my home theater room. :) I told my family about the peope here with dogs. They laughed.

Got my set through deepdiscountdvd for $126 and free shipping. Well worth the money.

Numes 04-04-06 08:42 AM

I just received mine yesterday. It is amazing! My cat ran away when I took it out of the box. Last time he acted like that was when I got my Hellboy Kronen mask.

I hope this is a trend that continues in the U.S.

What trend? Terrorizing dumb animals? ;)

Got ours from Amazon. It's my girlfriends birthday present (she loves these movies) so I haven't seen it out of the box yet. Thing is huge though.

Cameron 04-04-06 03:00 PM

got mine today...

is it just mines or are your ape heads slightly slanted

onabudget 04-04-06 09:08 PM

I just got #2902 via ups.

As said before, the packaging is great and the bust is very nice. IMO, it is not as freaky and big, as others have indicated. Maybe its because I have a couple of LDs laying around? :scratch2:

 to Fox for putting this set out and hope that other studios will follow suit in R1.

He's looking sideways a little (11 o'clock'ish) if that's what you mean.

glasschicken 04-05-06 08:25 AM

Girlfriend loved it. Said it was "the best birthday present ever!" Already watched the original and Beneath.

Mr. Cinema 04-05-06 08:33 AM

I would like to get the Ape set. It would look good beside my head busts of Frankenstein and the Phantom of the Opera.

But I don't know if I want to spend $120+ on it. Not really interested in the tv series or animated ones.

You know a girl who likes the PLANET OF THE APES films?! Honest to God, first one I've ever heard of...
