Cover art feels like an '80s sci-fi flick. Red tones would have been far more effective. Along with a creature or two.

Didn't bother with this. I had hopes for how the game might be interpreted cinematically, but figured the filmmakers likely weren't going to do it very well, and it wasn't worth my money. Probably good for a rental, unless HBO gets it.

I presume there was a focus on action rather than atmosphere. I think a story like that of Doom works better when the reality of the situation is unknown, and a feeling of mystery and eeireness is maintained until perhaps half way through--when all hell finally erupts. Action is good, but buildup is better. In my view.

That seems to be a new trend coming in now. Theatrical cuts are given 4:3 transfers only, while unrated versions are presented in OAR. Another that received this treatment was The Ring Two. Perhaps it's a subtle hint of which version filmmakers really want you to have.

I wish I didn't see this movie theatrically. My three word review: Stupid, Stupid, Stupid.

You'd expect as said, a cover like this for a made for TV movie, Doom was not much further up the chain than a made for TV film. It seriously could have been, minus the five minutes of first person action which had no impact because it was pretty predictable and more like one of those lame jump out at you 'boo' rides at the county fair that don't do anything to you. Rent first, I highly recommend it.

you know let's just get it out in the open and thread crap all over this film. Come on lighten up, it aint high art, but to some of us it wasn't all that bad - jeesh.

LMAO, some people will defend anything.........except The Fog remake ofcourse :)

um... I'm starting to see a pattern here. Those who have seen it recommend renting it, those who haven't are going to blind buy it. Maybe that indicates something ;)

Seantn 11-29-05 12:45 PM

Exactly. I really really really recommend renting it first.

This film could have been helped by quite a few things, but 12 additional minutes of footage is not one of them!

dadaluholla 11-29-05 12:50 PM

what is so bad about it?

I mean obviously it doesn't look like "GOOD" movie but still...i am considering the blind buy because i occasionally like dumb action films (and also the Rock).

Seantn 11-29-05 01:17 PM

That's the reason I went to see it in the first place, because it looked like dumb fun. I found it to be a dissapointment on that level.

nodeerforamonth 11-29-05 02:18 PM

So it wasn't violent or anything? Was it cheesy?
