Contest Voiting: From the $50 DDD contest for my collection.

Ok all the contestants have given me their opinions so now is up to the people to vote for which order is best. Here was the rules:

My wife said that i could order $50 more worth of movies from DDD in this sale, so considering i have no real idea on what to get i decided to make a contest. Here's how it will work:

1. You can submit any size order as long as it doesn't go over $50.

2. No movies that i already own. You can check my collection in Sig.

THE PRIZE: The winner of this poll will receive at LEAST Armageddon: Criterion Collection. Free shipping and handling. Everything. I've decided to add Snow White and the Seven Dwarves: Platinum Ed. to the Prize package.

The Poll will close Saturday at around 10 p.m. Central time. Anyone contestant who wants to explain their choices, now is the time to do it.

Here's the thread if anyone wants to see the other lists:Contest Thread

Thanks to all that participated.

Reubs82:

SCRUBS-2ND SEASON $ 22.31
SCRUBS-1ST SEASON $ 25.44

Your Subtotal: $ 47.75

MBS:

X FILES MYTHOLOGY V.03-COLONIZATIO $ 24.84 1 $ 24.84

NatrlBornThrllr:

Before Sunrise: ($7.91) - A really well written Linklater film. While most people prefer Before Sunset, I think this is the better of the two. Regardless, you need it to compliment Sunset.
Buffalo `66: ($7.42) - One of my five favorite films. For me, this movie has more replay ability than any other film in my 800+ title collection. I'd lose sleep if I didn't mention it. Hell, it'd be my pick if you said we could pick any one title up to $50.
Casablanca SE: ($16.30) - No explanation needed.
Citizen Kane SE: ($16.30) - Another that needs no explanation.

Total: $47.93

DJLongfellow:

HELLRAISER 1 $ 7.19 x = $ 7.19

I was going to vote for illenium's list, but it didn't make the cut (link).

Thus, I will take the easy way out and vote for my own choices.

Hey . . . more votes for mine, please.

However it ends, I still highly recommend those three films to you, Kocheese99. You seem to have a very similar taste in film to mine and two of those three are in my top 5 dramas (Ikiru and All The Real Girls . . . Ikiru is actually #1).

That actually makes me think of something else I was wondering about . . . is the top vote actually going to be what you order, or just who gets the prize?

I really like this contest. I'm selfish, so I voted for myself...but I was tempted to vote for a few others as well. A lot of good recommendations there. Films that are in the lists of others that I couldn't make room for, but still feel are must-own..

The Night of the Hunter
The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly SE
Fargo SE
Ikuru CC
All the Real Girls

A lot of others are great, but those are some titles that should be in any collection. Just amazing films all around, in my opinion. Also, not all of these are must-own, but I'd recommend any of the films below...taken from the lists of both those in the poll, and those that didn't make the cut:

A Tale of Two Sisters
The Fly
Dazed and Confused
Bottle Rocket
Annie Hall
Miller's Crossing
Patton
Following
All About Eve
Gentleman's Agreement
In the Mood for Love
21 Grams
Amores Perros
Y tu mama tambien
Casino
Run Lola Run
The Professional
To Kill a Mockingbird
American Beauty

In the end, no matter who wins this contest, you absolutely must pick up "Following" for $4.80 in addition to whatever else is in the order. That's the best film you'll get for that price, no doubt. Just tell the wife that you'll do the dishes and take out the trash a few extra times...heh.

There is no going wrong with 50 episodes of Scrubs. Second best comedy on tv next to Arrested Development. Also easy to watch one here and there and has much more replay value than movies.

Thanks, I thought it was a good list of cheap quality films. Regardless of the contest, I hope people pick up and watch some of those.

I voted for NtrlBrnThrllr (which gives him the lead for now), even though I think it's a shame to pay $16 for DVDs that you can get at CH for much less. But the quality of his picks can't be denied.
