"Three Extremes": will it get a DVD release?

Anyone know if "Three Extremes" (the movie that is actually 3 short Asian horror films) will be getting a DVD release? It's only playing at one theater that's not too close to my home for a couple more days, so I'm not sure I'll be able to see it. Hopefully they release it on DVD, so that I can see it.

I've had the DTS R0 since February. It's a 2-disc set. You might want to check with import places. I know there's a R3 version so not sure how hard it is to find the R0 nowadays since the movie was released here.

There's also a full-version of the 2nd short Dumplings DVD out there.

I highly recommend it.

maybe it's resequenced for the non-US version but 'Dumplings' is the first short. Damn! and I just ordered 'Dumplings' from YesAsia for 12 bucks.

Thanks for the responses, everyone!

If the full version of "Dumplings" is available on DVD, then are the full versions of the other 2 films available on DVD?

As far as I'm aware, the other two films are the full versions already. They were made as short films.

yes, you are correct, as for 'Dumplings' I think the filmmaker's realized that they had alot of more material to expand it to 90min, and then cut it down to a shorter running time. The recent Fangoria article on the trilogy noted this.

so is the R1 version the best to get?

I can't tell if the R1 is the full, uncut for all 3 films? is it and would this be the best choice given all the regions presentation?

From my understanding it is the 3 shorts and the full version of Dumplings. That will make me pick it up even though I already have Three...Extremes. I never did pick up the full version of Dumplings.

Maybe in the UK, but it's being handled by Lionsgate in R1. Also note that the U.S. version was resequenced ("Dumplings" is at beginning instead of the middle), which isn't a huge deal IMO but may be a problem for some.

so will this be pick-upable in Best Buy or Circuit City? it is "R"-rated right? why isn't it "Unrated"? what do you think the best price will be?

I missed this post from way back when. Sorry.

I didn't know there was a single disc HK version. The 2nd disc has behind-the-scenes featurettes for each story. They're subtitled in English. There's a text "Story of..." for each one also. Finally there is a trailer for Three Extremes and a trailer for Dumplings. The case is housed in a slipcase.

Are you sure that's not the first Three Extremes? Because the DVD I have has a "2" on it and is called "Saam gaang yi"

Three...Extremes (Saam gaang yi) is a in-name sequel to Saam gaang. Presumably they called it Three...Extremes because the original Saam gaang was known as plain old "Three" in English and "Three 2" would sound goofy. Lionsgate has now decided to confuse the hell out of everybody by picking up the original Saam gaang and releasing it as Three...Extremes Volume 2, even though it came out first.
