Official details coming any day now...just a heads up for the official street date!

All I want is for the WB to do a two-disc (AND ONLY A TWO-DISC) with a 5.1 EX track and both trailers and I'll be happy.

bunkaroo 11-03-05 10:12 PM

I kept having to putoff seeing this theatrically, and now I might as well wait for the DVD since I know I'll be buying it anyway.

Cameron 11-03-05 10:17 PM

good news....

I saw it at a DLP theater and it was absolutely gorgeous. Interestingly, most of the audience was adults. Man, you missed out.

Very cool, I really want to see this. January will be here before ya know it. :)

Warner Brother's won't do only a two-disc... for some reason's the studio's (especially Warner Brothers) have really gotten into the double release thing.

As long as Warner coninues to release 1 and 2-disc version AT THE SAME TIME (instead of releasing a 2-disc version a few months after everyone has bought the 1 disc version --- FOX!!) why should we care?

Some people aren't into extras and want a movie-only version so that they can save a few bucks. What's wrong with that? Seriously, sometimes people bitch about the STUPIDEST things!

esc24 11-04-05 12:45 AM

It's really not a stupid thing to complain about. When stores see that there is a one disc version and a two disc version they make the 2 disc like 5 or 6 dollars more even though the msrp is just a dollar or two more. Plus Columbia House will most likely not sell the 2 disc sets as enrollments since they will consider them special. If they would just release the two disc sets, then everyone can save a lot of money.

Artman 11-04-05 01:55 AM

Since the movie is so short I'd expect them to just include the extras on a single disc.

Great! Very looking forward to seeing this finally. Thanks for the info!

Same here

Zodiac_Speaking 11-04-05 07:46 AM

I've been wondering when an announcement about Corpse Bride was coming, this is cool.

RichardW 11-04-05 09:34 AM

I missed out on this as well, so I'll be picking up the DVD.

Big Worms 11-04-05 09:48 AM

Great news! Thanks.

Examples, please?

Batman Begins, Lemony Snicket, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, War of the Worlds (2005). All of these had/have seperate one and two disc releases, and the stores always heavily discount the one-disc release and barely discount the two-disc releases at all.

Mr. Cinema 11-04-05 10:35 AM

WB released Terminator 3 as a 2-disc only and it sold for $15 on release week. Matrix 2 and 3 were also 2-disc only and sold for $15 on their release weeks.

FOX released Star Wars as a 2-disc only and it sold for $15 on release week.

For some reason, retailers seem to think that the bonus disc is worth $8 more than the movie disc, even though the retail price is only a difference of 1 or 2 dollars.

The reason people are complaining is because they used to be able to get 2-disc releases for $15 in stores, now all of a sudden it's $23.

Also Kinsey, Constantine, The Life Aquatic and The Phantom of the Opera to name but a few.

None of those 2-disc sets have an MSRP of only "a dollar or two more" than the 1-disc version.

Exactly. It's a shitty trend.

Only positive as it has cut down my buying of some titles I was on the fence about.

According to the retail price that DDD gives ("Why pay $XX.XX"):

Batman Begins
1-disc $28.95
2-disc $29.95

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
1-disc $28.95
2-disc $30.95

War of the Worlds (2005)
1-disc $29.95
2-disc $39.95 (this is a rare example, it seems)

Constantine
1-disc $28.95
2-disc $30.95

So, yes, there are numerous instances of this case, and the fact that they're not as heavily discounted is what ticks most of us off. I wouldn't mind paying the $2-3 extra to get the 2-disc version if they would just discount them the same amount.

Josh H 11-04-05 11:12 AM

Exactly. The Big Box stores are using the 1 disc versions as loss leaders, and not discounting the 2 disc ones as much release week.

It royally sucks.

RichardW 11-04-05 01:00 PM

Which ones are video stores renting? The single-disc versions?

Josh H 11-04-05 01:10 PM

Yep, I've only seen the single disc ones in the rental stores. Another crappy aspect of it.
