desktop maggot is coming soon.

Artman 01-20-06 06:10 PM

Really want to get this, but it'll be one of the first HD/BR titles right? If so, I'll probably wait.

Janus09 01-24-06 03:14 PM

Lol at the desktop maggot on the corpse bride DVD site. That's great.

Price doesn't really matter to me much. I've heard the movie has a Danny Elfman exclusive track and I've enjoyed listening to his compositions alone in other Tim Burton films such as edward scissorhands. And IMO animated movies like this really shine on home theater systems. I don't know what it is, perhaps all the attention to detail with the cinematography since everything has been crafted by hand as well as having studio voice recordings. Animated movies just seem to bring out the best in home theater systems so I really must own this movie. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham's voice work are a nice bonus as well :)

I was in Walmart the other night, and they had an advertisement up for the DVD showing a bonus item.. I think it was a book, but it might have been a DVD. I don't remember exactly. At any rate, it looks like Walmart is getting my money it nobody else offers a bonus item..

cisman 01-25-06 08:55 AM

Is this good for a blind buy or one I should rent first?

On the WalMart website it say they have an "...Exclusive Bonus "Corpse Bride" Book."

Sounds like the RC3 Deluxe Edition (With Book). Also available in the UK.

It is an EXCELLENT film, cis.

If the Oscars were to end today, it would be the winner.

With figures? Any more info on this? Anyone?

Dane 01-31-06 11:55 AM

A clear Oscar winner.

Wow, the Walmart packaging is awesome! I wasn't expecting this and I'm glad I got it there. As noted earlier, it comes packed with a book. However, this all comes in a slipcover with a multi-image thing on it (like Day After Tomorrow, the Final Countdown, etc). When you hold it one way, it's Victor holding hands with Victoria. When you shift it, she turns into the Corpse Bride and a bunch of characters from the underworld appear. Really creative in my opinion. Hopefully the pics explain it better:

Oh, and make sure you check if it's widescreen. Theres a sticker on the front that indicates it. I had to dig through at least 20 before I found a widescreen version and I'd assume they stocked 4 times as many full screen ones.

Mr. Cinema 01-31-06 12:45 PM

This is a blind buy for me from Columbia House. Should be arriving this week. Can't wait to see it.

teamwinfan 01-31-06 12:46 PM

Hah, DarthMarino.. you beat me by a minute! Another thumbs up to the "Lenticular" cover on this Corpse Bride DVD! I also had similar problems locating a widescreen one. There were roughly 40 copies of Fullscreen, and 1 Widescreen.

cisman 01-31-06 12:57 PM

Well I ended up renting it....I'll try and watch it tonight and if I like it I'll go get it at walmart for the cool cover:)

Rogue588 01-31-06 01:14 PM

So i'm guessing the fancy cover is a Wal*Mart exclusive?

sailor_moon 01-31-06 01:15 PM

How much was the Walmart version?

DarthMarino 01-31-06 01:20 PM

I paid $19.96 for the Walmart version. Yes, I would assume the packaging is exclusive since the sticker indicates that the book is a Walmart exlusive and the cover was clearly designed to house the book and the disc case.

Maxflier 01-31-06 02:08 PM

I saw the exclusive at Wal-Mart and after checking about 10 different copies, i just assumed it was only availabe in Full Screen. Going to go back on my break and check them all i guess.

It's not packaged with the DVD, it's just something coming out at roughly the same time as the DVD.
