Question about Ultimate Matrix Collection

I know the limited edition comes with a book and figure.....but do you think this is a price mistake??

http://www.buy.com/prod/Ultimate_Mat.../40679674.html

Bestbuy has it for double the price....

majorjoe23 10-26-05 02:42 PM

No, there's been a price drop, it was mentioned in the bargain forum. It's actually $41.xx at overstock

Morrow373 10-26-05 03:01 PM

60 dollar price drop??? that pisses me off...I just got it on ebay for 60 bucks thinking I saved 40.....UGH

PJsig08 10-26-05 03:29 PM

DDD has it for $41 shipped, I got it there. Great deal.

neocheddar02 10-26-05 03:30 PM

Wow, I might have to pick this up (and I didn't really even like the sequels that much). For $45-ish it seems well worth it though.

Dear lord, if that stays that way until the next 20% sale (which should be sometime next month by my calculations) it would be $33

Mr. Cinema 10-26-05 08:30 PM

I wished they would finally release part 1 by itself with the corrected transfer.

I would get this set, but I don't like the packaging because the discs are on top of each other in the case. ugh

I don't really like the Limited packaging either.

Big Worms 10-27-05 09:42 AM

Great price, but still not sure if I like the plastic case it is in. This one is going for only $3 more than than the non Limited Edition. Decisions.

If your concern is that they are laying on top of one another, rest assured, each disc is ensconsed safely in its own tray and there is about a half-an-inch of clearance between each one. I think it looks wicked on my shelf, personally.

Fincher Fan 10-27-05 10:17 AM

I'm undecided about this. I mildly enjoy the first film and loathe the sequels. On the plus side, I love a bargain!

reverie 10-27-05 10:29 AM

This would be more tempting had I not already purchased the movies by themselves awhile back. Is the content all the same, plus some, or is there stuff from the single disk releases that isn't on the box set? Maybe if it's a great sale one day, I'd get it and try selling off the single discs..

the marshal 10-27-05 12:00 PM

In Switzerland they were selling those for 50Chf (~39USD) about one year ago (it was before the other boxset came out) for one time we get a great deal before most (all?) other contry. I guess they really didn't sell well at the initial price...

And I bought one at that price :D

dvd_luver 10-27-05 04:52 PM

both editions are nice, but for the completist, I'd go with the cool neo doll version.

matome 10-27-05 08:14 PM

Wow, I wasn't crazy about the sequels and already have the single discs so I wouldn't spend $100 for the set initially. For $40 shipped though...hell yeah.

Slowpc 10-27-05 08:30 PM

been thinking about ordering this all day today.....

wewantflair 10-27-05 09:06 PM

Waiting another ~3 weeks for this is oh so tempting, but the possibility of it going OOS is haunting me....decisions, decisions.

matome 10-27-05 09:28 PM

Yeah, would be nice to wait for the inevitable 20% sale, but they'll probably be selling like hotcakes at this price and then bye-bye stock forever.

CKMorpheus 10-28-05 01:52 AM

I'm on that after I get my paycheck!

Fixed

As a collector of all those Matrix busts I just had to make that small correction. :)

[tv commercial paraphrase] IT'S A STATUE! It's not a figurine, it's a statue. /

I picked this up at a local Costco for CDN$45...didn't quite care about the figure/statue/bust/whatever the hell you want to call it, i just got it for the movies.

Now i have to find a 10 disk box and a custom cover...

Fok 10-28-05 01:17 PM

Hope the Alien set goes down as well.

blindrocket 10-30-05 01:17 PM

I bought the non-limited version of this set because I think the packaging looks much cooler. That holo-foil with the matrix code in a single box does it for my display. I thought these floating trays didn't look too hot and I'm not a fan of busts (the statue head variety ;)) either.

When is buying something you "loathe" ever a bargain?

matome 10-30-05 05:17 PM

Mine shipped on Friday  Looking forward to the new transfer on the original, as I have been waiting for that to sell seperately.
