In a perfect world, I'd want both, but since this ain't no perfect world, I'll settle for the cartoons

Got my replacements Friday as well. They came in the prepaid envelope for us to return our originals. I guesss we're on our honor that we'll actually drop those in the mail. I went ahead and mailed mine this afternoon.

I know this was discussed months ago, earlier in this thread, but let me just repeat: I truly resent the dissecting of these cartoons by Big Brother, and further resent the inclusion of Whoopie Goldberg at the beginning of all of these DVDs saying, essentially, "Alright, we didn't WANT to show you this stuff, but we decided to allow you to see it, as long as you'll realize that it's WRONG!" The arrogance is absolutely unbelievable. Leave the art alone, leave my dvd alone, and leave ME alone!
Off my soapbox now. Sorry.

From what I read at:
http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/...ight=tom+jerry
there are supposedly re-released DVDs out. So you can buy them and not have to go through the trouble of sending in the discs to get the replacement ones.
This is what a guy named William posted yesterday:
----------------
As someone who just bought the set because of this program, I can confirm that current sets have the fixed pressings. So to add to the summary, if you bought your set recently, you may not need the replacements at all; corrected sets are now out there.
----------------
My question - How do you know if DDD, Amazon, etc... has old stock or new stock?

It was merely wishful thinking on my part, due to your prophetic shipping experience.

What I meant was for those of us that haven't bought them at all yet.
When I first read there was a replacement program I purposely didn't buy them (figured it was ridiculous to knowingly buy a defective product that you had to return and wait weeks to, if ever, have resolved) as I was waiting for them to be re-released with the corrected discs.
But, now that supposedly they have been re-released with the corrected discs how do you know if what you are buying is the re-releases or old stock.

I got mine last Friday, and was incredibly happy at their policy to send the new ones with the return envelope instead of having to wait for the envelopes and then hope that the old ones don't get lost in the mail and they never mail you the new ones.
As for a volume III, these 2 volumes complete all the theatrically released Tom & Jerry cartoons that were made. Any other volumes would have to be the later cartoons. And personally, I could care less about those.
As for the introductions, I thought Whoopi was a terrible Leonard Maltin-wannabe. People pick on him, but he sounds like he's truly defending the cartoons and the cartoonists that made them, rather than accusing them of wrongdoing.
From the get-go, I had a problem with the Tom & Jerry sets using the phrase "They were wrong then, and they're wrong now". Terrible. Just terrible.

You're absolutely right.
Sorry. I was looking at a list I have made of the chronological order of what we have, rather than the list of what there was total.
From the list of them all, it would appear that there are 36 left that have not been released, and since everything I can find says that there were 3 edited shorts on volume 1, maybe they're just going to put those 3 on volume 3 in their unedited forms, making the total number of episodes on it 39.
That would be nice.
BTW, here's a list I had made showing which set and disc the shorts has appeared on so far:

my only beef with the upcoming Volume III is all the shorts with "Butch" and "Son." Butch takes the place of Mammy Two Shoes as the catalyst, and frankly, the shorts are revamped from previously done material, with a dog in the place of a human.
Weak shorts, with the bulldog and his "tyke." the only one I vaguely enjoy is Hic-cup Pup.

got my Vol. 2 replacement discs from WB finally after waiting MONTHS for them. how can i quickly tell if i got the corrected discs? most of the VOB files are dated 12/7/05 and some are 12/8/05. would this be correct?
this is for the corrected Vol. 2 discs, not Vol. 1 (which is discussed in another thread and is still a mess).

There are three cartoons where Mammy's voice appears to be in a different acoustic from the rest of the cartoon, and she sounds like a voice actor imitating the original. These are "The Lonesome Mouse" on disc 1, and "Saturday Evening Puss" and "Nit-Witty Kitty," both on disc 2. Apparently these "redubbed" prints are from a British Tom and Jerry DVD -- Tom and Jerry are huge in England -- where Mammy's voice was redubbed to give her a marginally less exaggerated accent.

thanks LorenzoL, but i was hoping for something of a more visual confirmation of the files. my Vol. 2 set is buried somewhere (i have yet to locate it), so i can't compare the differences right away. i will need to send back the originals, but figured i'd ask somebody who's already done the comparison and can confirm the file changes (if any). thanks!

The quickest way I found when I was being obsessive was that on Disc 1 in The Lonesome Mouse (I think), at the end after Tom & Jerrys scheme to make it look like Tom killed Jerry, Mammy gives Tom some milk, and in the corrected version she says something like, "You sure IS a good mouser.", and the incorrect version she says something like, "You sure ARE a good mouser."
Disc 2, I checked "Nit-Witty Kitty" and when Mammy is sneaking up on Tom to hit him on the head at the end (when she has the book in hand), the incorrect version is silent, but the correct version has her reading from the book over the shot of her walking.
