Thanks for the sympathy vote, darkhawk. After going thru the first page, I honestly thought I'd be the first vote for myself. :(

Congrats, jfrost. And nice job running this thing.

And since giving the prize to the person you go against in the finals would make it kind of anti-climactic, how about giving it to the person you demolish in the semi-finals? ;)

Both are pretty solid collections, but jfrost's Top 4 are pretty overwhelming in this particular case. Sorry, scott27. Console yourself with the fact that you overcame some strong competition to get this far.

2. Franchot

I have to admit, I'm kind of tired of the LORD OF THE RINGS discs being used and considered by many as the end-all, be-all of DVD greatness. (They're not, in my opinion.) CITIZEN KANE is another obvious (though certainly warranted) superpower pick. Cleaver's got a helluva collection but I find Franchot's picks a little more interesting and unusual.

Just a sidenote here, but it doesn't seem like the voter turnout for this second edition of the draft has been that strong. A lot of people viewing but not a whole lot of voting going on outside of the group of participants. I'm too lazy to check, but was it like this during the first edition also?

For the third edition, we'll definitely need to find a way to get more people in on the voting. But that won't be for awhile I guess .. we're all drafted out!

The second matchup is easy, but the first one is tough. I decided to vote based on how many of each contestant's picks I would keep if they were given to me.

1. Scott27 vs. jfrost

Scott27 (would keep Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and Slacker)
jfrost (would keep Jaws, Dr. Strangelove, and Undeclared)

jfrost barely squeaks by 3 to 2.

2. Franchot vs. Cleaver (if I apply the same reasoning to this matchup, Franchot wins 7-5)

How about losing by 1 vote?

Went to bed up 3 votes, got home just now, open the thread, lost by 1. Now where's that noose or sharp knife...

1. jfrost (congrats)
2. Cleaver (toughy)

Well, at least you either live in Hawaii or it was a pretty good night. And if you live in Hawaii it was probably a pretty good night anyways.

(Congrats to all players who played and thanks to all voters who voted.)

(And, not to be ungrateful, but if the winner decides to award the prize to one of the runner-ups, skip me--I already have the new special editions of The Fly and The Fly 2 .) (And if I somehow squeak though and win the top spot, please pass on the prize to someone who doesn't have the disc.)

Franchot collection is great, and a very strong argument can be made that the 4 greatest films are represented in Citizen Kane, The Godfather 1 and 2, (I only like the Don sequence in the sequel) and Casablanca, but my special features are insane. The LOTR EE trilogy will keep you occupied for weeks, the Ebert Citizen Kane commentary is the only commentary I've listened to more than once, The Hamster Factor is an elite doc, my Disneys are stacked, no single disc is more loaded than T2, and the Pulp Fiction text commentary is as good as it gets.

Good points and a great collection, Cleaver. By my tally, it looks like you are going to win our face-off and I congratulate you on your deserved win.

I've got me up 4 with plenty of time to go, but I count like crap.

May I add that no selection dictated my subsequent selection more than Godfather 2.

1- jfrost (wins hands down, an easy choice)
2- Cleaver (the only 2 dvds in Franchot's collection that I would take over any of Cleaver's dvds are Casablanca and Indiana Jones. Another easy choice for me here).
