So what did you all do with your damaged Uni horror sets?

This might seem mute now, but I've been making my way through the Hammer Horror series and Bela Lugosi Coll. I've seen 5 of the eight Hammer, and 3 out of the 5 on Lugosi. I've never had a problem with these Uni sets, until last night. About 50 minutes into Paranoiac it did all that wierd stuff. the big question of this thread is since its now past the 30 days exchange, what do I do?

I thought about viewing the rest and if nothing goes wrong, then I was going to say sorry Paranoiac, but I'm keeping it. If it freezes again that's two movies and is pointless to keep, so what to do? I know people have been having problems with these sets, but did anyone have problems post the 30 days exchange policy.

bought them at Best Buy.

I bitched directly to Universal. I sent my disks back and they said they'd replace them. I don't know if I'll just get another off-the-shelf copy or if they plan on fixing the problem. I do know that they made single-sided disks of these titles for Netflix that don't have the problem. Hopefully they'll send me those.

I am sure Universal will replace the discs as long as there is no scratches or scuffs. I think all companies do that, don't they?

I tried looking around their home page but didn't find a "Contact Us" link.

While I am sure it wasn't your intention, I found the above to be particularly amussing considering that it seems like more and more lately discs arrive scratched and scuffed from the factory.

My solution to this problem going forward is not to buy any of these Universal DVD-18 sets unless I am confident I can watch them within the 30 day window. Yes, it sucks, but that is what I feel I have to do in order to not be driven insane by them.

Universal won't exchange them unless you include a receipt and its less than 30 days from purchase according to the email I received.
